  1. Hiya, I have two f8s. They have been in freshwater since i bought them about 4 months ago. They havent been doin so well to be honest. They havent grown at all and their colour isnt as bright as it should be. I feel pretty guilty about keeping them in my freshwater tank and would like to give them to someone with a brackish tank. But before I do that I was wondering wether f8s can be kept in full marine? Or is it just green spots? I am going to convert my tank to saltwater and would really like to keep my f8s.
  2. Dont expect to get much sympathy out of Janimates regarding their low quality livestock, its all about money for those guys. They dont want to know about your pets once theyve left the store.
  3. No it isnt, its about people feeling entitled. It isnt so hard to ask for help at the counter, it isnt hard to wait you turn, and it isnt hard to walk out of the shop and get on with your life if a shop isnt up to your 'standards'. Walk out and get over it. I value this site hugely for the information some people can give, I'm pretty sure the freshwater section of this site wasnt designed for people to complain about service at pet shops.
  4. Im sorry but these 'discussions' are so ridiculous. THERE ARE MUCH BIGGER THINGS IN THIS WORLD TO WORRY ABOUT. Rather than having a spaz that the girl in the petshop didnt say hi. If this is the biggest 'stress-causing' thing in your life I envy you.
  5. yussss thats awesome, thanks reef
  6. Im so sick of not being treated like royalty. I wish these people would learn that I need silver service and I need them to wait on me hand and foot. What do these people think they are??? minimum wage retail assistants???
  7. i really want taxifolia.... 8) it grows so fast and is exactly the look i want but ill get into BIG trouble. i dont like the grape one becuase it seems to go all mushy at work. 8. hey, what are the scientific names for the species of caulerpa legally allowed in NZ? thanks heaps
  9. Hi all I would love to convert my Lido into a marine tank. I simply want to keep the same system as I have now, but changing the sand, rocks and lighting. I would love to plant the tank with caulerpa rather than have live corals. I was also thinking a few easy fish maybe one canary wrasse and one other small fish. My question is, are the two t5s with reflectors and marine blue and white bulbs enough to support the caulerpa? Will the caulerpa be enough in partnership with the filter be enough to support two fish and maybe an anenome? What kind of caulerpa is best in a tank where you want it as a planted tank? which species dont go to seed with the lights off and crash? thanks heaps
  10. Hey y'all Does anyone here know where you can purchase Gold Bullion Bars in New Zealand? Banks? And also, if i make a mould for a pendant, where can i go to get it cast in silver? I live on the north shore in auck thanks heaps
  11. Heya, Im just taking a look at updating my fish library. What are some suggestions for books that have proved to be very useful? Im looking at more advanced topics, not things like 'setting up a fishtank' or whatever. kinda looking for planted tank books and encyclopedias TVMIA
  12. YAAAAAAAAY!!! fanks sooo much for the links. the first one is EPIC Imma try to make a amano style puffer paradise. a high ph for the puffers is a bit of an issue for some plants mind you.....

    OMG!!!

I was wondering if anyone can help me. If you look at their website, it is obviously geared towards american customers. And of course, Amercia being America, they have to be different and have a 110v power supply. I was wondering if i can use this here in NZ? We have 240v as I'm sure you're all aware of. Some plug adaptor thingies have a mark saying 100v-240v on them which obviously means that they are adaptable. Is there a solution to my problem? Will it cope with higher voltages or will I have to buy something else to take the current down. Thanks heaps

    OMG!!!

Has anyone seen these babies?? http://ledtronics.com/products/Products ... =C743K1691 A VERY expensive alternative to aquarium lighting but awesome output versus power consumption. I am purchasing one of these very soon for my planted nano tank. NZ has very limited sources of tank lighting but this is soooooo cool. Anyone willing to spend the money should DEFINATELY invest in one of these. so awesome
  17. yay!!! thanks for your help everyone. I think i might go ahead and purchase an ADA glass diffuser, epically expensive but such amazing quality.
  18. I was wondering if it is possible if I can use a glass duffuser on a fermentation CO2 set? Its for a 30L massively planted tank which is too small for a pressurised kit and also too small for the diffuser ladder thing, plus its really ugly in a small tank. I was wondering if the CO2 bubbles need pressure to diffuse through the ceramic disc or if they do it on their own? Thanks
  19. At jansens/animates or HFF? I dont really remember running away from anything LOL. But yeah, we are encouraged to give the best customer service we can provide while ensuring we don't burn out. A long day is hard y'know. Hopefully everyones next experience at either HFF store is a little more pleasant.
  20. I work at Albany, I find it hard to find a happy median with customers. Some are Uber friendly and love to say hi even a bit of a chat, while some are really quite rude and unfriendly. I always usually at least say hi and give them space to browse, if they need help im always happy to serve. but sometimes you get customers who HATE being asked if they need help. It puts you off so when the next customer walks in the door i find myself less enthusiastic to return the friendlyness.
  21. *sigh* another case of keyboard spartans. Weapons down boys.
  22. Call me old fashioned but I don't believe in piracy. I enjoy the products I buy so I like to support the creator even if it means *gasp* paying for it. Photoshop is the profesional standard for digital photo maniulation. Nearly every magazine image you see has been edited in some way mostly on photoshop. I think I'll just bite the bullet and pay for it... thanks for the PMs BTW guys.
  23. OMG have you seen the price of it!!! $1419.95!! How the hell am I going to afford that!? Im a school student doing NCEA Level 3 Photography and Painting next year and I was wondering. Does anyone know if i can get a decent student discount?? Ive checked their website and I can't seem to find it anywhere... I wanted it to do digital art and photomanipulation on the new iMac I'm planning to buy along with a graphics tablet. Thanks
