  1. I have seen two hexagonal tanks joined with two square glass tunnels. Have also seen pictures of joined globe tanks. Does anyone have any tanks that are joint or any designs for making them.
  2. LOL, well we made it everywhere had 7 bags of fish in total. 7 from hamilton and te awamutu and 7 from hollywood fishfarm. And I have to say a big thanks to hollywood fishfarm mt roskill who refilled all our bags with O2 which took 15mins and we only got there a min or so before they closed.
  3. Well todays the day. thank for all your suggestions, hopefully we get to them all. If any of you see a graying man with glasses and a breard and a young guy with blue tint sunglasses and a beard at any of the places suggested say hi. Cheers CT
  4. My father and I are heading up to auckland Airport this coming saturday the 7th and are planing to stop at as many fish shops on the way as possible. So far we have Reptilez in te awamutu Holywood fish farm in auckland World of water in hamilton If anyone can suggest any other good shops, and addresses so we can let the GPS navman guide us, that would be awesome. 6. Awesome tank, makes me keen to do africans when I can finally afford a big tank again. Looks better with the plants.
  7. What would I need to keep a Freshwater cray?
  8. Yeah an old name from CS days. I have a 2 foot tank with a glowlux tube, and an old ehiem canister filter, and a old 150w heat I think (might be 100w)
  9. Oh and i'm not too fused on whether its just one type or mixed. Have glass from a 3foot tank that was poorly built, that I plan to clean up and rebuild sometime in future.
  10. I've had a community before, and A pair of chiclids, I quite like the idea of a planted tank, but have read that they sould be cycled with just plants for a month or so, and I'm really impatient. lol. Don't think I've seen killies for sale in Taranaki.
  11. I have a 2 foot glass tank and I can't decide what to put in it. I'm not exactly new to fishkeeping, had two 4 foot tanks when I was single and had disposable income. Now i'm not single and don't have excess money. Any suggestions for tank mates etc would be awesome. Cheers CT
  12. Critters is up the north end of town on the main st. Look it up in the yellow pages at a phone booth, its what I always do when I road trip.
  13. The only pet stores that sell fish in new plymouth are critters and pet essentials, critters sometime has interesting fish. For a slight more selection you can drive 10mins north to waitara and look at b-zone aquarium and computer supplies, but they're only open till lnch on sat and not on sunday. As for locals, there's not much from the forums in New Plymouth (sadly). You could try contact the head of the club and ask him.
  14. Yeah, placed it at the back of tank facing forward and its working great so far.
  15. I remember reading somewhere on the forums here that a good flow rate is x4 the tank volume an hour. Might have got that wrong.
  16. I have an internal filter in my newly planted 4 foot 225L tank The filter has a flow rate of 1200L/hour this was the as close to 4x the tank volume as i could buy from the lfs. Is there anyway i can reduce the flow out? like anything i could out infront? it still blows my val around on its lowest setting.
  17. I had one about that size in my community tank with guppies and neons and danios etc. and he never ate any of them. He was actually really friendly, came out and zipped thru plants and round tank.
  18. How can I get the best growth in a planted tank. I have a 4 foot tank that i'm planning to turn into a planted tank and am just looking into ways to encourage growth.
  19. Bolivian rams, i have a pair and they're great with everything. Kribs aren't good with cockatoos, my kribs scared mine into hiding and he hasn't been seen since.
  20. Mine could be either mtosi or katill I think they look more like the katill ones.
  21. Just think tho, if you could have the tank and get it planted and stocked. You could snorkel in it just like your in a far away country river/lake. All in the comfort of your old home. Now that would be cool. Pity I can only dream
  22. Still none yet, hopefully have some up this weekend
  23. yeah, i knew they'd been diggin big hole under and around the rocks but i'd never thought they'd spawned. I thought the mother stayed with the eggs and the male swam round the entrance outside. They've both just been swimming outside normally and going inside every now and then. Thats why i didn't think they'd spawned. They dug two holes under different rock formations, and the babies i've seen are under one, could they have spawned under the other one as well?
  24. Just looked in my tank and there is little white fry swimming round in the rock formation. Holy Cr*p I've never had free swiming fry before.
