Fay
I fed the tank last night and just measured the spread of my big Anemone 60cm (2ft) What did you say about a bigger tank Brianemone
cookie extreme
hi Fay, the anemone with the yellow damsel(?) is the one that ate my morish idol. sticky little think but great looking, most people taht have tanks don't even recognise it as an anemone. Fay
Are you dosing Mg and Cal, KH now Fay? What do you mean I have always dosed. If you mean the stuff I got off you no I have gone back to dosing Seachem Kalkwasser. I do about 60ltrs top up a week it keeps my calcium spot on. I have stopped dosing Mg for now at Steve suggestion we all can't figure out why I can't keep leathers etc all the things I lost in the change over I have given several goes again with no luck. Going to Auckland on Wednesday Ben is getting something to treat my water and also going to see if he can get my water professional tested before I try again. Haven't had to dose for KH remains stable.

Brianemone
that blue clam is really nice, which shop did you get it from?
reef
Tank is looking really nice Fay. You could have got a bactaria problem from using NSW . I have seen the same problem in a few tanks using NSW. NSW is loaded with bactaria which seem to effect leathers and mushrooms. How much water movement do you have?? Fay
Thanks for the kind comments Brianemone and reef. Yes it could be something like that reef but my mushrooms are fine what could I do if it is that. I have two streams in the big tank with two big powerheads behind at the bottom and one stream in the cube with two small powerheads at the bottom the flow seems just right for what I am growing. I have been adding Bio Digest should I stop.
reef
You could wait for a month and then try another leather. hopefully by this time what every it is has left the system. I dont think the bio digest would cause the problem as i think you had the problem before you started dosing it. Just maybe you need more current for the leathers, you have a big tank and leathers love current as it removes the slim coat which will rot the leather if they dont remove it. Have you tries putting a leather near the stream to see how it goes..
Fay
Yes I had the problem before I was using Bio digest Its not just leathers I'm having problems with I have grown all these things with no problems before. I have put in extra carbon (better keep my eye on the Anemones after last time) and I will try Bens stuff can't remember the name of it. Wasp do you have any ideas? Ira
have you ever touched it? or just place a wooden stick into the tentacles and see if it sticks to it. I didn't think my sebae was sticky because I poked it a few times when I first got it and it didn't stick...Yesterday it grabbed my hand and startled me enough I knocked a rock over. hehehe. Nice and sticky now.
wasp
Wasp do you have any ideas? Not really, leathers can be easy, or they can be REALLY HARD. I don't have a 100% cure, but what has sometimes seemed to work for me, is when the leather is turning to jelly, agressively blow off the dead tissue with a turkey baster or powerhead, then move the leather into good current to keep it clean. Of the other corals you mentioned, I recently bought a sick organ pipe, I had been watching it decline for a few weeks, till it was almost finished. Then it went on special for $15.00 so I took it home. Put in medium light medium current, and fed the tank with double dose of Reef Solution. Recovery started within a day or so and couple of weeks later it's looking PRIMO Reef solutions will also do wonders for xenia that is struggling. Only thing wrong with Reef Solutions it also does wonders for bubble algae, so if using just monitor that. The other thing Fay is that in a mixed reef such as yours, it may be impossible to duplicate the ideal environement for every thing in there. May just be a fact that some things will find conditions marginal, if you move it in their favour, then something else will struggle. But your pics are AWESOME! it would be a rare thing indeed to keep something like that, with absolutely perfect adapted conditions for each one, you've got a small zoo in there. Always a joy to see your tank
Fay
Thanks Wasp good advice: I will just go with what I am growing well
Fay
Wasp; What is Reef Solution is it a food? What brand is it?
wasp
Yes it's an additive made by the same people who make Miracle Mud. Reef is the importer if you contact him he will tell you where to get it. Great for LPS, & softies, you'll see improvement by next day. Doesn't appear to do much for SPS.
