dino
Nice fish Karina!, Just a quick question. My female is posted on page2, this was bought as a rainbow ram, are these a different ram to these, they look different. If I get a German Blue will it be compatible are they all the same? Here is another image:
F15hguy
I haven't seen rainbow rams before, but they look to be the same species so yes they are all the same as far as I know.
SamH
Are the blue ram actually from germany? I thought they were imported from singapore. I believe the strain was developed in Germany.

danval
Very nice Barnacle! Here are a couple recent one's of mine Female Male
Godly3vil
Gorgeous rams guys, makes me so jealous. All we can get down here at the moment is some small pearl spotted rams, they look real cool but are already probably dying from being kept in the tank they are in. dino
Barnacle, Danval Nice rams!
karina
Certainly good stock out there ATM compared to earlier in the year. Mine have even coloured up more since the other day. The veiltails have amazing colours now, real show stoppers! Now trying to decide between balloon or electric blue rams next.
Godly3vil
Get the electric blues, I heard balloons are even harder to keep alive than blues.
Barnacle
I really wanted electric blues but could never find any so settle with the blue rams. I have had gold rams in the past too. I just want them all Love these fish! Danval, I do really like yours, mine are lacking the black stripe by the eyes. Whenever i see others with the black, i think they look so much better than mine. Barnacle
10days is good. What are you feeding them? Takes my female about a month to fatten up and lay eggs again.
dino
My Readings: pH - 7.6 NH3/NH4+ (Ammonia) - 0 ppm (mgL) NO2- (Nitrite) - 0 ppm (mgL) NO3- (Nitrate) - 0ppm (mgL) PH seems a bit high for rams? I have ph down and RO water any advise on how to use these. thanks
F15hguy
I would avoid it personally, most rams are tank bred nowdays and I have done them many times in pH as high as 7.8 I find its more about having a suitable diet, and make sure your water is nice and clean. btw is there any fish in that water atm???, 0 Nitrates seems a bit dodgy unless thats your tap water
dino
I do a lot water changes. I do use tap water. Hey, thanks for the info on the ph, I am quite happy not to be messing with water. The rams seem to be eating well, they do go up and down the glass a bit, thought that was an indication of inadequate water parameters. Only bristlenoses, the tank is empty, However I am thinking of introducing Apisto (Dan) into the tank, But before that I need to make sure the water is generically right for both fish. Sophia
my nitrates are usually very low like that

danval
Some of these eggs now have fungus growing on them.. What is the normal procedure if the parents don't remove these? Do i remove them myself? Will the fungus spread to the good one's? Cheers
Godly3vil
Yeah remove the ones with fungus on them, it will spread I think. Also you could use that melafix blue stuff to prevent fungus.
F15hguy
use a toothpick to gently flick them out, best done while feeding the parents so they don't get too disturbed. meth blue will help, but tbh the parents doing their job is normally just as good
danval
They ate the eggs immediately after removing the eggs with fungus
Barnacle
Bugger. I really wish mine would lay on a small stone so i can remove them all at once... Instead, they insist on digging a hole in the fine gravel. Better luck next time!
