henward
i have a big piece of wood. its more of an awkward shape. i want to soak 75 to 80% of it, that should do it, and sink in a tank. anyone in akl, even around south area with a pond in a lifestyle block or a pool or a giant tub? wanna soak it there untill sunk:D approx dimensions needed is about 1metre long, 60 to 70cm high, about 1m wide or slightly less. if the thick bottom parts sink, the tips at the top dont need to be sunk as it will drag it down under. hovmoller
Why don't you just put it in the place you want it in the tank and strap some rocks to it until it can stay there by itself... much much easier imo :dunno:
henward
could be as last option but i want to get rid of any existing tannins if possible before hand. prefer to soak it first.
F15hguy
hide it in a council lake
Adrienne
You got a bath? I've used the home bath before, wasnt very popular though because the family had to shower for four weeks. The tannins did stain the bath but good old Jiff and elbow grease solved that problem.

henward
too much will drive the ph too low though, though by volume the wood isnt actually that big, but still, wanna be sunk before intro.

F15hguy
heres the type you want, pity the location though kept an eel in one for about a month when i was 7yrs old, it became quite tame and always came up for a feed when we released it into the dam down the back of the farm

David R
My tank is still the best option I feel. 8) TBH if [when!] you do get around to setting up this massive mega aro comm tank we've discussed so often I'd be happy to completely upset my tank to give you the wood back... Ira
Given the shape of that you probably could sink it in a kiddy paddling pool or something. The majority of the mass is pretty low down.
