REEVESTA
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/F ... 921512.htm Ok it looks like a cichlid and cost him $150, he claims it is part of the pirana family. That can not be right, it looks more of a hybrid JD. ID anyone? :dunno:
ally07
I can't ID the fish, but it looks to me like it's a very very pale jewel haha! Surely a tank like that wouldn't have cost $1000 to build??! If it did, I'm pretty sure he got severely ripped off!

waterlogged
yea i talked tot his guy last time it was listed and said i haighly doubt a pihrana would mate with a cichlid. and doesn,t surprise me if he got it sold to him for that price from there
REEVESTA
Why would you pay $1000 to have a oddly shaped tank made for a badly coloured jewel
A-town...
I too have seen that auction! My first guess was a dull coloured jack dempsey. He got ripped hard either way!
waterlogged
poor guy has just found out the truth
phoenix44
I don't think he is much the wiser sadly. I still don't know what that fish is. Kinda looks like it could have a little of each fish in it :nilly:
blueether
The tank would make a nice riffle aquarium for my torrent fish and a koaro (or a few of each )
David R
My first guess was a dull coloured jack dempsey. +1, saw it last time it was listed and told him what it was, didn't seem to take it on board though.
Joshlikesfish
I have one of those filters in my mums 30l tank
Duncan7
+1, saw it last time it was listed and told him what it was, didn't seem to take it on board though. +2 for sad looking dempsey. Ive watched the last few auctions and resisted the urge to try and tell him that he has a sick looking malnourished dempsey...

chopper
Looks like a sort of JD to me, a jack hybrid perhaps or maybe a golden coloured Jack you get those! Any ways i guess he was suckered in by a moron at the pet store saying that it was rare. Will have to see a better photo though. If he really paid that price for that tank and fish he is a real tool! If he is still keen on fish I have a few Piranhas (bronze comets) for sale will let them go for a meagre sell for $200 because they are big and i am feeling nice. They are very rare too!
