Insect Direct
Noticed a 3year old beardie trying to dig on her basking tile the other day (never laid before) but has been with a male recently and looks gravid. She has access to damp sand for laying, but seems really stressed, ate a single cricket yesterday but other than looking at live food shows little interest. Appears a litle dehydrated, eyes sunken a little and top of head, which is why im little worried, had one similar last year and she karked it pretty quick after laying. . other than taking her to the vet, has anyone got any ideas on what i can do to help her pass the eggs and or get her over this little state? tia
livingart
tried bringing the temp up or a warm bath? got any electrolytes to syringe into the mouth
repto
take her out in the backyard if you can? They are reptiles when all things considered and even though raised in tanks and cages ,far from what you would call `domesticated`? Natural is the way to go for me and seems to work well.
Insect Direct
tried bringing the temp up or a warm bath? got any electrolytes to syringe into the mouth i have been a bit slack checking temps as of late  . just checked and her basking temp was at 34C. Put her in new setup with rock at 42C and shes spread out on it gave her a quick warm bath this morning. pro-biotic a couple of days ago. was thinking stress was causing parasites to give her grief, but maybe just temps thinking about it now. may get fecal tested this week anyway. I like that idea Repto, but she hasnt been digging alot but was doing the obvious head down trying to dig the other day. Too lower temp would explain lack of trying to dig, fingers x'd thats all it is. Cheers guys.
Insect Direct
still looks dehydrated, bit sluggish. just gave her another bath. she passed some white stuff and bubbles but no #2s gently felt stomach when in water, almost 100% sure there's eggs in there. hope she comes right, biggest dragon i have, always been a good strong dragon. anyone know optimum laying temp and substrate moisture? livingart
sorry can't remember where this pic came from  large yellow mass is liver turned yellow from yolk production FB are fat deposits K is kidneys follicles are eggs being produced, start as yolks then as they move down to oviduuct outer casing is added lots of protein and calcium may help to take some stress off her system

livingart
this (looks like dried blood) was on her basking rock next to where i found her one morning. if that is from the autopsied one the red lump maybe a blood clot from a haemmorhage the liver looks pale maybe internal bleeding this is only supposition though

Adrienne
I think this thread is very very interesting and I don't think the pics are that bad - more fascinating really. While I can't be any help on the topic of reptiles this is very informative. Good luck with your beardie, hopefully she will recover. Insect Direct
The one that is currently sick, is actually the sister to the one i autopsied. Didnt pair her up last year after other one dieing, this one been looking so good until now. orange around eyes is stress related i think. not easy to tell but back top part on head appears sunken in, and the eyes slightly. Just gave her another bath out in the sun, now basking out in the sun. She needs a boost of energy or something.
