VinsonMassif
We are definitely moving house at the end of April. I am really excited. We are going to move down to Hokitika for a slower pace of life. Quiet wide open places under the mountains. And especially the Nothofagus forests, I love the southern beech. Here are a couple of pics of the house and land. Stream and river on the farm

David R
Looks nice, but it wouldn't have a concrete floor.
Stella
I am guessing..... Torrentfish, inanga, koaro maybe, redfin/crans/common etc bullies, crayfish, eels, who knows what else depending on nearby habitat and distance form the sea

VinsonMassif
Thanks guys. It is awesome. I can't wait to go exploring the rivers and streams. Am going to get kayaks too. Yeah it doesn't have concrete floors. Will have to position the tanks above the supports. I figured the best way would be to sit the stands on 1" plywood so the weight is spread evenly on the floor. I am only going to have two 4' tanks to start with. It is only 10 minutes from Lake Kaniere and Dorothy Falls. Some serious adventures are in the pipes

VinsonMassif
I think it comes from the water moving through limestone and quartz. Something about the dissolved particles reflecting different light.......

VinsonMassif
You must have stayed there a while to get a day it was not raining. Ha ha ha. No it was only 3 days. But with an average rainfall of almost 3m we are packing all manner of wet weather gear
alanmin4304
My father spent 6 months on the Wanganella at Deep Cove and missed out on wet money for 3 days. That is what keeps the air clean and the plants growing so well.
VinsonMassif
Wow I bet he was gutted to miss out on 3 days lol I am really looking forward to the wet weather. Give me rain and cold over hot, gritty sunshine anyday.

Caryl
In case you are interested VinsonMassif, I believe that house was built in the early 1900's and my grandmother worked there in the 1920's as housekeeper for the Deidrichs family. Dad says the whole house will be made of native timber and the floors will be solid kauri or matai The water in the river is that colour because it is melted snow.
