  1. I have been sent a pm suggesting it is Tonia fluviatilis, i have to say, this is the closest i have seen from all the suggestions http://www.tropica.com/productcard_1.asp?id=091a What do you think blue????? Sorry to answer your question blue, it was given to me by a club member
  2. I have used tonic salt with great success, put the wounded discus in a Q tank and add tonic salt as per instructions. I im interested to see what others would do in this situation, but as i say, tonic salt has worked for me HTH

    Killie tank size

thanks alanmin, each tank will be running its own sponge filter, im thinking about making my own to cut costs, and save space, not shure about heating yet, but i think they will be fine with out a heater, our lounge is warm right through winter, and the tank will be situated at eye level, and heat rises

    Killie tank size

Ok so do you think that 7 divisions of 10x30x20 should be ok, or do you recommend i go for 5 divisions of 14x30x20. I know she dosent intend on keeping any of the larger killies. Thanks guys
  6. I have found that if you have fine gravel/sand you will see them more, if you have something coarse like "fruit salad" they will berry them selfs and you will never see them

    Killie tank size

Both times we have been to aquanuts, Helen has come back craving killies, so its about time i built her some killie tanks. The tank i am building is 70x30x20 (wxdxh) and am looking to divide it into 7 10x30x20 sections. The Question is, will this be big enough for a pair of killies, and is 20cm high enough. I have only cut the base, so can ulter plans if need be, but i have gone with 20cm high because it fits in with the glass i have. These tanks will only be for breeding, i have other tanks for growout etc
  8. Woke up this morning to 2 deaths, a small female and THAT male
  9. lmao@luke Thanks all for a great day, we brought back some amazing fish, no deaths so far. Great to meet a few new people Got a ok pic of one of the fish too

    my panduro!!

Cool pic's. my first thoughts are that they are both female, but i have been wrong in the past. If they are a pair and you want to breed them you will find that the bn's will try there hardest to get to the eggs, so if they spawn, ditch the bn's to another tank (if passable)
  13. What time is every one meeting for the molly hunt, got to figger out when to get out of bed
  14. I have feed bbs and daphina in the same tank (bbs to fry & daphina to the parents) and im 99% shure the daphina were eating the bbs. Surly this would be the SUPER SNACK for fish 8)
  15. Sorry alan, it looks alot like it but is definatly not Eichhornia azurea. The main thing that makes me say this is Mine reached the top long time ago but when it reaches the top, it goes much like cobomba, it will just curl it self on the top. None of the plant i have has breeched the surface The link you gave mystic looked alot like it, but googling the name given, the majority of the plants looked to have the leafs too tightly curled and way too dense. Thanks anyway guys. Any other ideas????
  16. thanks guys, but from the links, and googling the names given, it doesn't appear to be any of them.. It is a stem plant but doesn't bush out like stargrass. Here is another pic
  17. HI, Can someone name this plant for me please Thanks in advance
  18. Now now wok & evil, you forget that Caryl already has experience in the mud, she clearly has a unfair advantage over you
  19. no cooler, but i am looking at making a glass frame, with mesh in the middle to keep the temp down..... ive been able to get it down to 22-23, but has been as high as 26. WAY to hot i know, but im hoping the mesh top with a fan would sort it out. Anyone know if i built 4-6 computer cooling fans into the lid extracting air would work??? PH 6.2 (due to 2 large pices of driftwood) Substrate is similar to bughtwater, but finer, with some slightly larger stones mixed through No plants, but there were some in the creek that i liked the look of Thanks for helping ID them Alan, i dont really mind what they are, it is just nice to know, they are great fish eather way Yes Raul i would love to get some red finned bully's, all in good time... i think i would like to get this temp problem under control first
  20. Thanks Stella, it is really hard to get a pic of the tank, it is very dark, and every time i try to use the flash, open the curtans or turn the light on, all i get is reflection off the glass the bully pictured above was the smallest of the 2 suspect carns, here is the largest one (note the size of the unidentified bully in the background) Unidentified bully
  21. I have had betta's and discus in my com tank for over a year, no probs at all, i dont ever recall seeing them interact with each other
