The fish you mention should eat them, however if you have too many they cant keep up.

    Reefs Reef Tank

Got my lux meter today, Tested the new ati t5s and found that they were about 55000lux about 200mm below the lamps. Pretty bright for t5s. My 400w was about 71000Lux however dramatic drop when you move the meter 50mm away from the centre. Also found it makes a bog difference which bulbs you use as the t5s supa white where much brighter than any other t5s bulbs, The t5s put out a far better average of lighting over the tank. No wonder you see some awesome t5 tanks as a good t5unit puts out good lighting,

about 20cm in size. Will try in a few weeks. Thet say Nothing ventured nothing gained.
  13. No Zeovit products used in my tank. Played around with many filter systems and found that i get the best results form using a big skimmer, dose amino acids, bacteria culture from prodibio ,reef solution and some zeolite rocks in a canister filter. I also add trace supplements. Sometimes i do dose a ethanol if i feel i need it. basically vodka. The system works on the basis that the skimmer remove the bacteria i add. the bacteria also breakdown nurients and get removed by the skimmer. Reef solution I used mainly for its iron/mineral content as I found that goniopra cataphyllia do much better. Still have my goniopras which are suppose to be hard to keep. I can say that adding amino acids does work as the corals do get better colours and grow much quicker.
  14. In a way maybe, I believe it is more for advance reefers as the product realise on someone with experience to notice all the changes and then change doses to suit. Also there is not much margin for error in dosing. Unless you are keeping acropora/stony corals then it is not worth using it. More for advanced hobbyist trying to get the edge. The product is a tool and if you don’t use it right then you won’t get the results. Just because you use zeovit does not mean you will have a spectacle tank like all the nice zeovit tanks overseas as we only see a few nz zeovit tanks coming anywhere near the standard of the overseas tank. Success is based on the person’s experience/Knowledge as the hobbyist with the spectacular tanks would still have nice tanks if they did not use it as they also invest in quality equipment which makes a big difference. In terms of how the product works, I believe you don’t even need the zeolite rock. But it does make the system more effective as the rocks do something in its own right. Would recommend the zeolite rocks as they do clean the tank. You can get it from some main retail pet’s stores. I think Tunze is the only brand in the stores that sells zeolite that can be used in seawater as you can’t use any zeolite rocks. The zeobak is the bacteria culture which you add and then you feed it with zeofood7 which is a type of acid. You need a good skimmer to get good results as the skimmer takes out the bacteria which in turn holds po4/nitrate. You will find a number of products work the same way as bacteria filtration is the best in my opinion as that how the ocean works. Anyone tried CLR in your tank?. Its is a acid used to remove calcium deposits. I put a bit through my skimmer to clean the venturi valve. The skimmer went nuts . Maybe we could dose our tanks with CLR to remove nutrients. CLR contains lactic and gluconic acids. The big debate about zeovit could be that nothing in the bottles is disclosed so you don’t even now what you are adding to your tank. The product is not patented so the products could be common products that you cant patent.

    Tank Upgrade Photos

Lucky you did not kill the brittle star as it looks like it was not him to blame for the sixline They say innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt
  16. I had a look at one the other day, well made. Nice looking. They are Copies of quality german skimmers. However the perform was a lot to be desired, there was hardly any bubbles in the skimmer. The waste was very watery and only a slight brown colour. Comes back to the old saying. You pay for what you get. Mass produced skimmers that have below average performance.

    diatom bloom

Vodka will work however why add the problem to a tank and then try to remove the the diatoms. Overuse of vodka can also be a problem as it feeds all bacteria including the bad ones. can cause bacteria in fish also.
  19. The last pic is very nice. Tank is looking good.
