  1. Shine a light at the bottom of the container. The brine shrimp will go under the light and then syphon off the eggs.

    Save.....

You could have had anemoe soup
  3. Because many hobbyist still appreciate quality. Many of the cheap asian units break down and just are not built that well. I have had many of my eheim pumps for over 10 years vs the cheap units that have stuffed up after a year, for me i just cant be bothered for the little extra.

    NLS food

I just checked the nls food protein content. i think it only had about 50 %. salifert has 65% Even in vitamins and other readings the NLS is lower . Like i said all hype. no doubt NLS might be a good food, however no better than what is available.
  5. might seem that way. Products that are heavy cost more due to the weight.

    NLS food

Waste of time, Whats so special about NLS food? I had a look at the LFS the other day and they have about 20 different foods. Most fish food is made in asian anyway to reduce cost. I really doubt there is nothing special , all foods make claims. read the labels a that will tell you what is in it. not the fancy videos and labels. I look at my fish and they dont look any worse off than other fish. It makes sense to feed them a variety of foods and we already have so much available. I feed my fish bananas, peas etc and variety of other foods.
  7. Most pumps hum or you get the loud air noise, I dont think much can be done with these pumps as they are cheap so you would expect some downsides. I found some of the Deltec pump also make a noise but its more of a vibration due to being enclosed. Maybe try putting a towel around the pump . might dampen the noise. I find you get used to the noise anyway.
  8. winning lotto will have better strike rate, any copepods will have to be approved by ERMA as they wil be classed as a new organism. Then risk assessement by MAF. I deal with these clowns and erma/maf are pretty unhelpful. Once i told them to use common sense and they told me there is no common sense when dealing with the acts. they love hiding behind the acts. Most mandarin fish will be ok in a establised tank as it will contain copepods anyway. if you look at night with a torch you will see hundreds, Most mandarin fish will each white worms and some will even take frozen brine shrimp. even growing up live brine shrimp would be a far better option.

  10. How much bubbles? might have to play around with the settings. Do you have photos to look at?
  11. Here is some info from Deltec re bubbles. www.theaquariumsolution.com I run a number of these on my tanks and dont have any issues with bubbles. Let the skimmer settle in and once the skimmer builds up a slim coat it will not be a problem. Also have the air tap fully open and after 2 weeks close it a little to say 2 oclock position, this will produce smaller bubbles.
  12. Another article on Saxbys tank http://www.ultramarinemagazine.com/articles/article02.pdf

Found this link on a tank that was in the review iof tanks in the world series. http://www.ecosystemaquarium.com/html/greatReefTanks/greatReefTanks_pg1.html Looking at the specs of the tanks in 2002, i was well done on lighting. only 443watts/m2. Not sure what it is now. 3rd highest in water circulation with 16 times.
  16. i just managed to get Oct 2002 issue again as i lost it. Great guy in the UK helped me to get it, very hard to get back issues. Also have a few of the current issues coming? i think the stores wont have the Novemeber 2007 issue until after xmas.

  21. They are great for reef tanks, dont cause problems unless you have a tank with high nutrients as you get too many.
