  1. Substrate does not cause phostphate problems, its what you put in the tank. anemoes seem to love going into pumps. my tunze nanos have munched a few
  2. reef

    Large yellow tang

. 50mm pipe on the base. 32mm pipe at the back
  3. Hows this for a yellow tang. his huge. sorry for the bad pic, to lazy to clean the glass.
  4. just add 1 amp every week for a month. should give you plenty of bacteria. Your tank is cured so this will just boost the bacteria you have,
  5. Try it about the 1 oclock postion, i found that on the small skimmers they work better that way. No, if it is quite then no problem, it most likely has the anti vibration pump by looking at the photo. you can tell by looking at the side of the skimmer cup you will see that the plastic slot that is not flush at the top of the skimmer. this is because the plastic feet on the skimmer will push up the plastic slot by 2mm.
  6. All Deltec mce 500, mce600 have the anti-vibration pumps, other than the units purchased last year, anti-vibration kits can be supplied free for skimmers that dont have them. just check with the retailer you got the skimmer from.
  7. Fmxmatt , Close the air tap a little as you will get smaller bubbles which means better skimming.
  8. In a way, but biodigest contains live bacteria which once opened cant be used again. I doubt cycle is the same as i dont see any overseas hobbyist using it on their reef tank The long term problems with biodigest /zeovit etc is that they are not allowed in the country anymore unless you have permits which are fartoo hard to get. Most bacteria products dont have permits.
  9. Fmxmatt , since you stirred up the tank the skimmer will collect more. Just leave the tank and let it cycle no need to test everyday. As mentioned after about a week add a few corals and see how they go. Get some biodigest from organism to help with bacteria growth. Maybe add 1 fish.
  10. good on him, lucky it was not fish

  14. here is more info http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/1-vt24432.html?start=0
  15. algae magnet will get them off, are you using ro/di?
  16. That is normal to go cloudy in seawater. all the test look ok. algae will form over the next 4-5 days, diatoms will cover the tank, especially if you dont use ro or di filter. Just wait a week or two and add corals. i would not add anemoe yet? wait 2-3 months to get the tank matured.
  17. Just add the po4 remover in a bag and place in the mce 600. You will need a buffer and cal as water changes will not increase it as it will get used quickly by the corraline and corals. initially it might be ok, best to check with test kit. If you want lots of coralline algae add strontium. test you should do every week, Calcium Kh po4 nitrate magnesium. test ammonium and nitrite also, but once tank it matured you should only test once a month just to do a spot check on the tank. Get a log book so you can record test results,
  18. I would leave the tank for a week or so, Get you calcium levels and kh levels up to about 400ppm cal and kh of abou 8-9. Get some phostphate remover like rowaphos to get po4 below .01. Your tank will start to get some algae which is normal. Dont worry about the corraline algae as it will just start by itself. Get a refractometer and keep the salinity at 1.024-1,026. Do some research on corals and decide what you want to keep. I would start of with about 6-7 corals like , euphylias, leathers, mushrooms etc. Also add a few easy fish like yellow tang etc, make sure you use ro or di water to mix salt and top up water. weekly water change of say 20% would be good to keep the system fresh and help reduce nitrates, If you get some biodigest from organism i would add a vial once a week for say 4 weeks to increase the bacteria in your tank.

1000% doubt it, you have your fish mixed up. you are most like thinking about Pseudocheilinus evanidus , Disapperaring Wrasse.

You won’t as it is outside most hobbyist budget.
