  1. Because it will leak co2 .
  2. If it was retail then it has to include GST if not stated. IF he asked for cash then you would assume it includes gst.
  3. My favorite is the Midas blenny I had some from Africa once and they were awesome,.
  4. very nice, hopefully they will not fight.
  5. yes it could, as why would wilsons corals do better with metal halides vs t5s, Metal halides dont make coral come out more. he only had 54w. pretty low lighting levels. 54w is the same as 1 x4ft t5 bulb, that is not enough lighting. no wonder the coral opened more with metal halides. Not a stupid question. hobbyist always make this mistake. yes, you should raise the lights and lower them over a week or so. or you can burn the corals.
  6. Your improvement is a result of more light not metal halide.
  7. 2 x 150w will be more than enough. or 4 x 54w t5s will also be enough lighting for most corals. The aqua c should be ok for a average skimmer, would have spent more on a skimmer as you will end up upgrading it soon . If you get soft corals you will need quite a bit of flow otherwise the leathers will not do well.
  8. Also agree not a fair comparison. you must have not enough light in the first place,

    Reefs Reef Tank

Nothing really happening in tank. Will post updated pics soon once things settle in as made some changes in terms of filter system. Add a sump with Miracle Mud and caulerpa. Since adding the Mud noticed that things growing like crazy. not sure why but could be the iron in the mud.
  10. You cant import fish medicine unless it has a permit. Even if the product is available in nz, the importer has paid a lot of money to get melfix approved so it should be purchased in nz. That is why we dont get many fish medicines in nz as it cost to much to get it approved. Its a major problem with small animal medicines. Importing bacteria products is also a major problem, only one or two are allowed in as they have permits, You are not getting ripped off. that is the price of doing business. fish shops dont make much profit at the end of the day and many go bust because they to listen to hobbyist and try to do things cheap. Our market is very small so we dont have the high turn over to drop margins like overseas, plus importers have to deal with all red tape from MAF. which cost money. Things cost much because of the government(maf/erma) who put things in place so they can make a killing, and we cant go anywhere else to get things approved.
  11. DECO City Pets, Napier sell them,

    mirical mud tank

You should only use the MM in a sump. the mud is very fine so it will not be good for the fish if it gets in their gills. The idea behind the mud system is that the algae will grow and use nitrate ammonia/ phostphate etc, so it exports nutrients a bit like a skimmer.
  13. I would still get it drilled, i dont trust overflow boxes. If they get air into them you tank will overflow, But i quess the over flow box is a easy option. I think Hollywood is having 20% off Miracle Mud Until end March.

  15. I agree wasp, they are cool fish, i have seen box fish in some coral tanks.
  16. They are pricey, but worth it, the asian stuff is poor. looks good but after a year with the wear it starts to show its age
  17. Tank looks great, why do you need a sump??
  18. You can keep most fish with them, depends what you want. box fish is also nice. Jewel is a brand of germany tanks
  19. no problems in a 4ft tank, very nice fish, something i want to keep. Just got to make sure they get good water quality otherwise they dont do well and can poison other fish if they die. The jewel tanks are very nice,
