  1. I only run the lights over the sump for 12 hours and I cant say that any of the algaes i have used has gone sexual. When algae goes sexual it could also be problems caused by the hobbyist than the algae. Quite a few of the caulerpa species are found in NZ waters which could be used.
  2. get a tooth brush on a long stick. the bubble algae comes off easy.
  3. It depends on the fish itself as they might fight, i have not had a issue when they are in the same tank.
  4. As mentioned try to remove it, should come off easy. once removed tangs should be able to graze on it.
  5. I bet they dont have tanks like this. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/miracle-mud-vt28109.html i am in the process of going Miracle mud with caulerpa, proof is in the pudding and looking at the tanks that use caulerpa it appears to be no problem at all. It may release some toxins however using carbon will solve that problem,
  6. They do grow big to a degree but will not grow fast in a small tang. Even are 3-4 years they will be ok for your tank. Also are you using a phostphate remover like rowaphos, this will help in reduce nutrients for the algae,
  7. WHo would say that? caulerpa is fine
  8. Both are the same genus and both carnivores. One of nemateleotris magnifica and Nemateleotris decora should be fine. Currently have a mixed of both with no issues.
  9. not available in new zealand.
  10. Found in New Zealand Wonder who has the fish now? http://www.nzherald.co.nz/topic/story.c ... d=10491931
  11. It is in the show tank? They cost about $90
  12. hows the lumps on the NASO.
  13. I would just keep a eye on it to see if it moves to another spot.
  14. never seen that before, can you get a photo of the naso in the tank?

    Miracle Mud

$7.50. man someone is making a big profit. Good idea i might try two over my sump. my yellow the better as the caulerpa will go nuts. Will also add ammonia chloride as the alage takes on a nice lush green colour.

The algae just needs floros. 6500 k would be very good li.
  17. Then buy all the stock so more can come in Is it really that important? having a nice healthy coral and nice shape is just as nice as a colourful coral. There is only so much colour you can get and most of those are hard coral. I have had ever colour you can think of and it also gets boring. The leathers to me seem also very interesting. There are many nice soft corals that are brown but very interesting.

    Miracle Mud

Nice tanks. I like the ease of it and there is so much life in the sump with the caulerpa. Will see if it will improve my acropora colours which is good but not so important for me as i run a all round tank with lots of coral species so i want something that will benefit all live not just the hard corals.

Lucky i dont have to change much except move all the corals out the sump. i will run my skimmer at night only as i dont want to remove to much nutrients otherwise the algae might have nothing to use.

    Miracle Mud

Almost 3 years to the day when i was using Miracle mud. Used it for a few months and stopped as my sump was to small to go totally skimmless. Well i am looking to got back to using MM as it seems to be so much easier to look after and based on all the great tanks i see on teh net. Hollywood fish use it on the coral tank and you have to be impressed how well the tank runs with it. Will update photos when i change over soon. Photo on how it works. The sump is designed to hold caulerpa algae which takes out nutrients http://www.ecosystemaquarium.com/products/miracle_mud.cfm here was my sump full of caulerpa Very nice tank http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... genumber=1
