  1. I don't have discus but the daily water changes for a bit sure sounds right! But isn't "white-ish" stuff usually fungus, correct me if I'm wrong. Someone with more experience will chime in here. If fungus, can they be treated? and if so what? Or would water changes be sufficient? Caper
  2. He's adorable. I just learned how to get an avatar pic so I could use one of my grandsons. But your pic is wider than mine, but then could be on account of the original size I guess. Brayden is almost 2 1/2, Cody just turned 9 months. Caper
  3. And if you do go over to see David's set up, PLEASE kill the bug    Sorry David couldn't resist  Caper
  4. No, seriously. Sorry but I can't think off hand who told me, someone who used it on here and since then have seen it on other places. To be honest, don't exactly remember if I was told about it for swimm bladder or constipation :-? But I do know it is good to treat them with peas for constipation (thought I did this edit last night...duh!) But my goldies get peas once a week and if I think there swimming off so to speak they get the treatment but if I recall only had to do that once quite awhile ago. Caper
  5.   I've never had gouramis so can't help there. Do you have hiding places for the fishies to go? The first time I had mollies I was told they were very peaceful and never bother any other fish which included goldies...HAH. At the time I had put them in a tank with goldies, and they hassled him like crazy, he got ick and they went bye bye! Now with that said, I have had mollies since with other fish and never had a problem. One of the things I've learned here and well like the experience I spoke of above, because a particular species of fish is supposed to be peaceful, doesn't mean all will be and vice versa...a fish that is supposed to be aggressive doesn't mean all will be. If you know what I mean :-? :-? Hope you get it sorted out Caper Caper
  6. Je_suis Hey never knew about that! :bounce: Probably won't have found it if it wasn't for your directions...THANK YOU I just changed the pixels to 80x80! Caper

Nice fishies To tell the difference between a male and female guppy is fairly easy, look at the anal fin. In the female it is "open" so to speak, where as in the male it is thin and pointed, it is called a gonopodium. Next time you are in a pet store just take a look and see if you can tell the difference. Oh also most females you can see a dark spot that is called the gravid spot under near the fish's tail. I hope I explained it ok, anybody can jump in and help  Caper

    Hello all.

OH MY GOSH...I am so sorry I must have been thinking of someone else :-? :-? OR I could plead temporary insanity! Caper
  9. This is the tank that has the barbs and red eyes in it. I haven't noticed the red eyes flashing, not to say they are not, just saying haven't seen them. But the barbs are flashing, but there's nothing on them, that is visible to the naked eye that is. Any suggestons on what could be happening, or what I should do? I will test the water today and post later, but I have been doing weekly water changes. Caper

  12. nemines wrote: But wouldn't you have to wait for a period of time for the tank to have enough algae to sustain an algae eater? Or would you just feed, algae wafers? Just wondering because this is the first time I heard of introducing an algae eater early in the cycling process, unless I misunderstood :-? :-? :-? Caper

Hi & welcome! You have come to the right place to ask questions, people are truly wonderful here and always eager to help. I'd be lost without them and probably would have given up long ago if I didn't have such wonderful people to help me. Plus that is how we learn by asking questions Let us know what size tank, fishies...that you have and when you can post a pic. Take care & have fun, Caper

Really nice Caryl You said you don't feed them very often, so, was this more of a treat for them? Just wondering if you actually have to feed fishies in an outdoor pond? Caper

  24. Yes, a good scrub should do. It was good that you didn't use soap you, as you are right, soap must never be used in aquarium or on aquarium items. Caper
