  4. Yep, I put them in the microwave then take them out of their shell. When I give them to my goldies I usually just break them up a bit (I don't "mash them up alot") again scared they'd choke, but I didn't in this tank because the barbs weren't interested before. Caper
  5. Hope she pulls through Vindy...keep us updated! Do kribs normally not bother other fishies (knowing that each fish can be different!)? Caper
  6. doch wrote: Is this in addition to flakes, that is if the kind of fishies you have eat flakes :-? Do cory's eat peas? I tried mine with them before and just now, they don't seem interested. But I did manage to get the peas where I can see if they are eaten. Ages ago I tried to feed my barbs and red eye tetras peas, didn't go for it at all! This evening I thought I'd try to get a bit to sink in the front so I could see if my otto would eat it (did have 3, 1 went to fishy heaven, have to wait till I do major clean to see if one is hiding). Anyway, the minute I dropped the pea in a barb grabs it! Spits it out, then goes for it again  So, try another...same thing! Needless to say, poor otto won't get a taste I guess. My only concern is I didn't break them up really small since I thought it would only end up sinking...could the barbs choke on them????? Caper
  7. Oh, why not come over here and start one up...we're only on the otherside of the world!  Caper
  8. Gee, I should have put him in my 10 gallon...duh...never thought of that! But then I'd still have to feed the 3 cory's that are still in there! Caper
  9. Have been trying to catch up on all the posts, wasn't on for awhile. Anyway, Caryl you said something a post (can't find it) about driftwood having to be a hardwood (also you mentioned a couple of names of trees).  1) If you find wood on a beach, how do you know it is hardwood? 2) What makes driftwood...driftwood? 3) How do you know it is suitable for your tank? 4) Does all driftwood rot? Eventually? Caper
  10. I agree with what you are saying regarding waiting 2 or 3 days. The only problem is that most times if you wait chances are the fish will be gone. It is rare that you can still get what you want after 2 or 3 days (depending on what you are buying of course). I have tried that but often missed out. How I wish one of the major pet stores would come here 8) Caper

Beautiful doggies...love the pics! :bounce: :bounce: I agree with you dsurfs, enjoyed them all...can't believe your doggy stayed and let you bury him...  For those who have lost their beloved pet, I know how you feel *heart hurts*. Thirty years since I had to put my precious Tippy down and I still miss him! Caper

  15. Thanks Phill Trust, hmmm, well we only have one place here that sells fish and it's a department store so if I want fish that's the only place I can go. Just a note on that though, went to the same named department store in Calgary and the tanks there were much more like you'd see in a pet shop!!!! When I do purchase fish I just try my best to pick out what looks like a healthy fish. Caper
  16. Oh my gosh Loopy, that is funny, well funny if it didn't hurt the fish any? What kind of fish is JuJu? Caper
  17. Afrikan wrote: Did you feed him during this time? One of my barbs recently went through the same thing you have described, same as you I thought swim bladder problems. I put him in a breeder trap and didn't feed him (I think I posted this somewhere else) for 3 days which I believe what was recommended to me. The only thing about putting him in the trap was his fins started to disintegrate. I believe it was the stress of being in the trap. Anyway, I left him loose after that, he's swimming had improved greatly. His fins are starting to grow back as well. He swims a bit differently from the other fish but I think :-? this may be due to the tail fin being gone (coming back though). Caper
