  11. hmmm bedazzled...that's interesting. Right now I'm trying to catch up on missed posts but I'll have to do a search on the net to check that out! So then, since my other fishies are tropicals would you say that the increase in temp tank shouldn't bother them and I should resume the twice a day feedings??? Caper

  14. Oh very nice I envy all of you that do such an amazing job at aquascaping! Mind you my tanks are only small but I've seen pics of tanks my size that were just beautiful. I have no talent in that area whatsoever Caper
  15. Thanks Caryl I am doing the no feed then peas thing! But I am curious, I normally feed my fish twice a day and do not feed on Sunday. But we've been having some really hot weather lately...oh how I LOVE summer :bounce: :bounce: , so I've reduced their feedings to once a day. Now I honestly can't say if I read it somewhere or what but for some reason I thought it was best to reduce the feeding, but do I need to do that??? Anyway, my point is wouldn't you think that reducing the feedings would be less likely for the fish to be constipated??? But what I saw coming from Sam was exactly as what the article described. 16. Snookie when I was in Calgary in May I saw my first freshwater stingray...it was awesome :bounce: Caper
  17. Thanks for all the help folks I did buy a small piece of driftwood when I was in Calgary. I haven't used it yet because someday when I figure out where to put my 55 gallon I'll probably put it in there. I was at the beach a couple of weeks ago with my grandson and I picked up a small piece of "wood". It was faded and not in the water (not to say it wasn't at some point) so I didn't know if would be considered driftwood. I'm just trying to find something small in case I get a pleco. I have tried them before but they died and I was wondering if not having wood was a contributing factor? It may not be rocket science Ira but for all I know it could have been a wee branch that some kid had taken there to play in the sand. So, that's why the questions. Since I never heard of anyone just cutting a branch off a tree and putting it in a tank I'm guessing there's a reason it has to be driftwood, again that's why the questions. :-? 8) Caper

Hmmm...when you said red gills I thought possibly an ammonia problem but then you said 0 ammonia. If it's only affecting the guppies and they are new, is it possible they may have been ill when purchased but nothing that you noticed???? Caper

    Introduction

Hi & welcome! Well, as you probably already know...fish keeping is GREAT! Oh, I noticed nobody warned you about MTS   Beware because there is no cure. My first tank was a 10 gallon. I thought I as doing the right thing by starting small...nope. But then it does come down to a few things when you consider size of tank...like money! Where do I put the tank! and so on and so on :-? Anyway, enjoy. Take care & have fun, Caper
  24. I was just on my way to bed and was turning out the tank lights when I noticed what looked like 2 bubbles on Sam. Upon closer inspection, it looks like it could be poo (it looks like that's where it's coming from). The 2 things that look like bubbles are near the top. It's late here so I don't have time to play with photobucket and as some of you may know photobucket has made some changes in editing pics and I haven't been there in awhile so please let me know if the pic is too big. So what do you folks think it could be. Not the best pic but when you look at it, it almost looks like it is attached to the side of him but in person it does look like it is coming from his bum. Okay, had to see what I could find before heading off to sleepy land! Found this on a site posted on her by Caryl: the site is http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/GoldfishPoop.html So, would you agree this is it???? Caper
  25. OH...I hope and pray for a safe return then! Caper
