  1. Caryl, do you use heaters as well or just the heat pad? Why the heat pad? Caper
  2. I have 2 vacuum hoses that attach to my taps for my 29 gallon tanks. I don't use all cold water, I try to take the edge off it by adding warm. I find I have to keep an eye on the thermometer as on occasion the temp was creeping up too high so had to adjust accordingly. My 10 gallon I just add a mixture of warm and cold, again just to take the edge of the cold. I use decholinator since our water has chlorine it it (didn't forget about the chloramines Alan!). Plus there are copper pipes in my place. I emailed the company about the dechlorinator and they said it was for all that kind of "stuff". Caper

    Hey All

  9. jolliolli wrote: Plus, I've never seen whitespot "raised". Any chance of getting a pic? Until you get a filter I suggest more frequent water changes. I don't remember  do you have test kits? Caper
  10. Do more water changes. If you have your own test kits, do testing till you get it back down. Caper
  11. David's tank is 5' and he wants to get it cycled and ready. Whether it is a tank this size or a smaller one, if you are using fish to cycle does it matter how many fish you use. If you understand what I'm trying to say :-? , could you use 2 fish to cycle say a 10 gallon tank and 2 fish for a 55 gallon tank. Does the number of fish matter when cycling or once the tank is cycled to keep the good bacteria up? :-? Caper
  12. Really nice pics snorkel Where do you plan on putting all the fishies that hatch? Caper

  15. Counting from the bottom pic up: pics 4 & 5 I'm not excactly sure of the correct wording so please correct where necessary  In pic 4 around the gills looks like any other fish but in pic 5 looks like something "hanging" out of the gills???? I've noticed this in other photos of bettas so is it something to do with the fact that they are a labrynith (don't know how to spell it) fish? AND oh how I love the red one Caper
