  5. With help, I have the start of my stand. Top frame and bottom frame made with 2x4's and to be glued with carpenter's glue (not quite finished). Will post pics soon. The man at the store said I "didn't" need to make an entire frame of 2x4's that I could just wrap with 3/4" plywood. What are your recommendations on this, just using the plywood??? I've been looking at diy stands on the net for weeks know, think my eyes are know rectangular  Caper
  6. Thanks Iduncan! Caper
  7. Awesome job David, looks great The 2 fish in the video that were "locking lips" were they fighting or some kind of mating ritual? What kind of pleco was on the wood? Caper

  16. Atomichotdog...tank looks really nice! I too love the black sand Did you make your background? Is it in the tank or on the outside of the tank? Caper
  17. I never change the temp in my tanks. But then, in winter here I have to turn my heat on (electric heat). Now in the what I'll call transition periods between winter/summer and vice versa I might see my heater come on a bit more because it is just not cold enough for me to turn my heat source up. Caper
  18. How's the pleco doing? Caper
  19. Maybe the result of damage? Anyway you could quarantine him Stella and just do frequent water changes to see if it will heal on its own? Caper
  20. Sorry about your loss Tsarmina joliet, keep us updated on how he's doing. I've never had cae so I can't really help you Hopefully it's just a case of constipation and the peas will help. Some recommend an epsom salt bath for constipation perhaps someone could guide you on that because I don't remember, sorry. If he's scales are starting to stick out, is it possible to quararntine him till you see if it is just constipation and not dropsy. Caper
  21. Thanks Diver, I haven't checked out other stores yet to see what kind of condition their cinder blocks were in because I wouldn't use the ones I saw the other day, they were so rough that even I wouldn't take a chance with them. I was reading somewhere on the web where someone used the cinder blocks and something happened and the tank broke. Can't recall off hand what the circumstances were though :-? I really want a wooden stand but I'll see what happens. Thanks to all again, Caper

  23. So until you get your intake strainer, you could put some kind of netting or something similar around the intake pipe as a temporary measure. I've read where others have done it on here, but I forget exactly what they used. Caper
