  1. Sweet as, Johannes. Trust you to have lots, hehehe
  2. Thanks Afrikan - I think I prefer the multi's from the pics I have seen. Do you know why they are called the Cuckoo Catfish for a common name (apparently) ??
  3. Hi, I know a lot of african cichlid tanks have synodontis catfish in them and I like the idea of including them in my tanganyikan setup eventually. Can I ask which types you all have ? Syn. Multipunctatus seems to be the most popular. I used to have a Syn. Angelicus years ago - it was beautiful.
  4. I still reckon that the cardinals compliment discus the best. Having said that Emperor tetra are nice too and I believe they are ok in hiigher temps. Also, consider rummy nosed - they are beautiful.
  5. As Suphew said, SCWD is a product that will do that. Alternatively you could also do a google for SEASWIRL - another product that will do it. Some manufacturers make a "wavebox" too and Tunze do a very advanced (and very expensive) system that would rock your socks off. The saltwater forum is the best place to find more info though as the salties need it big time for their reef tanks
  6. I have even seen underwater sand features like this for sale (in the UK )

    Blue Acara

Double damn - could have bought it and sold you the fish ! Theres a male Acara on TM at the moment I believe.
  8. Hi Dixon1990, Check out these links on making backgrounds and cleaning sand substrate (if you go that way). Very useful. They dont float because of the extra weight of the concrete and because they are glued to the back glass using a decent amount of aquarium silicone Good luck - I hope you post pics of the various stages of your project. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/videos/cleaning_sand.php good luck Chris
  9. Lol - I think we all want some ! Join the queue But in all seriousness, good luck. I think those who have breeding ones are working flat out to help us wannabes out

    Blue Acara

Blue Moon - what a shame - there was an auction listing online recently for a Juwel Rio 125 aquarium and a successful breeding pair of Blue Acaras - tank size Volume: approx. 125 Litres Measurements: 81 x 36 x 50 cm. I believe the whole thing sold for $300. I even thought about getting it myself. At least it shows your size tank u have in mind will be fine and I am sure you wont have too much difficulty getting the fish
  11. What a superb colour. I bet theres a queue of people wanting fry if they breed but please add me too it Not seen such a vibrant colour of them before
  12. Your fish are damn fine there Looking forward to hearing of breeding success on the comps too Such a fine fish and so few in NZ it seems
  13. Thanks loopy - am seeing Carrie and Tristan regarding some other fish so will ask.
  14. Thanks Aaron - im really looking for hobby breeders who are prepared to do a deal - trying to set my tank up with minimum cost as im studying at the moment - then when i have sold a few at hobby prices i can afford to buy at LFS prices - i have expensive taste in fish but have to get there first.
  15. Im wanting to breed sailfin mollies - does anyone have any that they would consider selling or any smaller ones that would breed later on? Im in chch. Thanks.
  16. sweet as ! id love some !
  17. how irresponsible, lol ! well have an awesome time over there ! is there no one who is interested in trying to raise those fry ? what about local breeders who might take them on ? seems such a waste
  18. would they not let you take them home to continue raising them ?
  19. Go Gannet !!! hope it all goes well.
  20. yip thats the baby ! how big was yours when u bought it ?
  21. Really Andrew ? thats quite a bit less than here ! What size was it? Do you have a pic ?
  22. Hey folks i saw a truly stunning small peru striped panaque in my LFS and instantly wanted it but at $130 its out of my price league. Wondered if anyone had managed to breed these or knew of how i can get one for a cheaper price ? I know - how cheap can you get, but as i am studying full time pennies are tight Used to (and still do) love marines, and its ironic that i chose trops cos the fish are (generally) cheaper. The irony lies with the fact that the fish i like in trops are all expensive, esp cos you tend to buy more than one !!
  23. that one is stunning fishy_t - can anyone shed any light on how it was achieved - what the plants are etc ?
  24. Hi, I have a tropiqurium68 (70L) tank that i am setting up. I am thinking about which fish i could breed in it, and have seen various small plecs / panaques etc in the LFS. Are any easy to breed for beginners ? Whats the best way to set up a tank for this ? Would it be species only or could you include some other gentle fish, say a schoal of tetras or something ?
