  1. Oooo nice photos! And that festival sounds fantastic (I love tasty foods...) Saw the NZ Falcons at Wingspan in Rotorua a year and a bit ago, they are so beautiful. Only 2000 left and they get hardly any advertisement, compared with the kiwi. Now I want a Baileys Sunday
  2. Cheers guys 8) Photographic opportunity was half the reason we went haha And someone mentioned the Leopard torts? They had about 6 there I believe
  3. Popped down to the Parrot Ranch near Levin today to check it out 8) Nice area they have there, really well laid out. Bit sad to see the parrots in cages sometimes, but they all look well cared for. LOVED the native NZ gecko's especially. Thought I'd share a couple of photos: Ye ole Beardie Day Gecko: Green Gecko. Anyone here keep these guys?: Macaw. Hard to get nice photos of the birds as they are all behind fine wire, so the only real decent ones are the closeups that you don't see the wire in: Can't remember the name of these guys, but they are endangered in the wild. Only the females have these red irises: Not part of the ranch, but spotted this guy at the river where we stopped on the way home: Hope you like :bounce:
  4. ... and don't let your feet dangle under the water jets
  5. As others have said, early weaning and removing kittens from their mothers prompts this kind of behaviour. Sounds like you are already discouraging it which is good, because if it becomes obsessve, I have heard of kittens suckling all the fur off the tummy of the other. Animal Welfare Code has a section for Companion Cats. Minimum standards are laws, and thus must be followed. One of these is that unless orphaned etc, kittens must not be taken from their mothers before 8 weeks of age. Recommended age is 10 weeks. http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/files/re ... n-cats.pdf Page 21 8) Have fun with your two, where are the photos! lol. I have kept one of my fosters to trial, but not sure whether we should really keep him (3 cats in a flat with 6 people is pushing it...). Hes so spunky, currently black pointed with a silver coat haha. Will get pics up later
  6. Well I completely agree with you!! People in there can be ridiculously stupid. But its those random crazies of our population that made reading it funny. It keeps me up to date with how little people know sometimes Like I said, I generally hang out in the Pets Section (however, its also full of crazies, but lots of nice people too). On a seperate note, you posted a pic of an arowana in another forum (car one) and my partner was wondering what type of aro it was?
  7. The trademe forums  Usually the pets section. You'll be happy to know whenever people start fishy threads, I often refer them to come and join here
  8. Wow! those are some lovely photos, so blue! Did you go out on a dolphin watch boat? I have just been up to Mahia, and was lucky enough to go swimming with Moko a few times. Learnt very quickly to go in the evening when the screaming hoardes of children had left. Moko comes right up to you then, I stroked and rubbed her back (though apparently him?) and played fetch with her and a boogyboard lol, was the most amazing experience of my life
  9. Argh, forgot all about this and have left it too late I think We are travelling from Palmy to Auckland today (Thurs 28th, leaving late morning I guess) and coming back on Sunday the 1st of Feb. Thought I would offer the service of fishy transporter. Probably left it too late for anything going Palmy to Akl, but can always do the other way on Sunday. We are staying in Browns Bay on the North Shore. Will be able to check PMs in Akl, so get in touch with any requests. Prefer not to go too much out of our way (will be quite busy, and darn petrol has gone up again) but dropoffs will be sweet. Will check on here throughout tomorrow morning as we pack in case anyone has a last minute request. Cheers, Rozski
  10. Heres me going "ah, check out that macro of mince and spaghetti" then see the post saying "its making my fish hungry" and I went back for a second look   Nice shot 8)
  11. Thanks for the compliements guys  Whats everyone else doing with their cameras these days? Severe lack of photos in this forum Speaking of cameras, I had to laugh at one listed on trademe. A Canon 400D had bidding of only $200, and I tought "thats low, I wonder why" Click into auction, and it says "Priced cheaply as camera has been vomited on and has 'water' damage around LCD screen" *barf yak puke*
  12. Yeah I found that thanks Zev 8) Just haven't decided which photo, or whether I want to take more to get a good one And judging by this months comp, apparently people like photos of rare fish - which I don't have haha
  13. O hai! http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f69/R ... acroDS.jpg
  14. Not quite as macro as the insects, but I was using the macro lens, and plus I can't find the other photography thread haha. Was learning how to utilize all the cameras functions properly (Tv mode etc) Have posted them with a link to a bigger/more detailed file than is allowed to be posted in here, so you can see better versions (still downsized a lot from original tho) http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f69/R ... gel2DS.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f69/R ... inalDS.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f69/R ... FlagDS.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f69/R ... het3DS.jpg My partner just took some frog photos, will go downsize and upload the best one....
  15. I'd already cleared out the silver hatchets on Friday And when I was in there on Fri (4pm?) there was already only one gold ram left and one blue ram left, so people had already been through there haha PS. leaf fish?
  16. mwahahah Shame there were no khuli loaches to catch
  17. Must try again tonight when theres no tank reflections, they made it hard. I like taking fish photos, should do it more often Friendly wee angels, love following fingers too Cool that you got some marbelled hatchets Mel, they are wicked fish. I ended up with silvers due to them being the only ones in at the time during the last sale (only way I can afford 'em!). The school of 8 now looks really cool
  18. aaaand tank restocked haha  managed to walk into Animates the same time as half the Palmy people from the forums too Cardinals for $5.15 each (with the 2 for 1 deal) is fantastic here. We have 2 fish shops, one is $10.33 usual price per cardinal (though gets less if you buy more) and other store is $10 per cardinal. So whilst they may be cheaper in other areas, definitely not so here! Plus 4 silver hatchets (3 of them quite big) for $43 all up (so now I have 8 altogether, they look fantasmic) And I got 2 gold pearlscale angels as a display pair Just been taking photos, might post em up soon
  19. And here comes the chick, with a plug for Twilight Some people told me it had bad reviews, but everyone who has seen it that I have spoken to has loved it. And of course I loved it, coz I am a hopeless sucker for stuff like this haha. Excellent music in it too, the soundtracks worth a listen. *runs before the guys can laugh and abuse the movie lol*
  20. Will keep an eye out for you. Have you put up a lost and found on trademe yet? Wonder if the dog next door has found him lol, its going nuts at the mo (stupid yappy foxy thing it is) What part of Palmy did he go missing from?
  21. Did the breeder not sell them to you with desexing contracts? Thats odd Yes, entire males spray, it reeks too. Also, you can't let him roam then, as he will go far and wide to search for females and mate with any he finds and could possibly pick up diseases when he fights with other males. Your female will also have to be kept inside so she doesn't mate with random diseased toms. She will howl when on heat, and I think a lot of females spray when on heat too. And you would have to keep them seperate until she is old enough (a year +). Desexed cats are a LOT nicer to have around. What would be your motivation behind breeding?
  22. lmao! At the end of the week, does the store owe you money or do you owe the store?
  23. Theres puffers up in the LFS here in Palmy Nth too. A figure 8 and a spotted. They can get more in too if people want them. Very cool wee fish :bounce:
  24. Gorgeous!!! I thought nobody had these in NZ! Very impressive Any more photos?
