    Hello all.

Well knock me down with a feather and hit me with a sledge hammer. Welcome home Shaun. LONNNNNNNNNNNNNG time no see or hear. Shaun and I were split winners of the Breeding Award Trophy quite a few years back, something he failed to mention. Great to see you are still kicking, but tough news about the back tho.. Alan 104
  2. How many cubic feet is your tank?? Alan 104
  3. It grows quite happily outside in NZ. Yes if it got going in the wild it could become a nuisance, but in the winter it dies right back, then starts the regrowth in the spring. But I guess you knew that and wanted confirmation. Alan 104

    Tiger barbs!

Not much of a view from the top Bill. Alan 104
  5. reef-man from me to you, You must be joking Nobody would even think of handing over the $'s before they were in NZ. Recently an importer sent away his money, and that was the last he saw of it. What makes you think with all your inexperience that you'd succeed where he failed and lost. Sorry. Alan 104

    Another tank

If it "and it leeked like a sive", I'd suggest that you strip it down, that's a lot of water if it goes. Don't plan on filling it for at least a fortnight. If you don't do this, make sure you have handy the phone number of a good carpet cleaner/dryer at hand. Alan 104
  7. Righteoh Pj. Your subs for the year 06/07 will be due from our AGM which is this weekend. As far as I can see with the incease in capitation fee of $5, that will bring the NZKA up to the princely figure of only $25. Due to the hatching / free swimming date, your corydoras will be eligible for this year 06/07. But the fighters are eligible for the 05/06 year so you have a foot in each year. Another three breedings of different species and you'll be entitled to a breeders badge. I think that covers it perfectly PJ, well it does for me, but if you want to query more, I'm happy to try to help you, or others as well. Alan 104

    White worms

They are not a problem, take them as a bonus of live food but they are a mite difficult to harvest. If you are too annoyed with them, flood the container and wash them away, but make sure that you don't leave the worms in saturated base. Have drain holes in their containers. Alan 104 ps, just re read my post. woops, sorry about the pun there. Al
  9. If it is male/female and can breed with itself Aquanut, this will justify Levin Aquarium Society's permiting of only one of a species as a viable entry for the Breeders Award Scheme. Alan 104
  10. How many did you say were a few Caryl???????? Alan 104
  11. There is no in between time Freshies are 6 weeks with a Maf inspection on arrival, a Maf inspection half way through, and finally the last inspection to release them. That's all the inspections if you are lucky. Guess who pays for those inspections. You have two things that I can see in your favour, you are close to an International Airport, therefore close to Maf inspectors. And you have dreams, I really hope you can have enjoyable ones and not nightmares. Alan 104
  12. My LP-60A runs a lot more than 14 outlets. It wouldn't be sweating at 14. Alan 104
  13. Don't know where your information is coming from PJ but you are definately a member of the NZKA. Your membership doesn't come to an abrupt halt. You will have membership rights through to a month or so past the AGM. If your fish hatched and were free swimming before the 31st March they will qualify when the 30 days are up. Alan 104
  14. They'd never give you two for one, that's for sure. Alan 104

    Zebra Pleco

Heard of an offer too good to refuse?? The shops were only giving the $100 for them, and they were closing their breeding room down. Ossies were prepared to pay LOTSA muny for them. Alan 104

    Zebra Pleco

http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1144276989 Check out this then go and deliver some more pamphlets, and papers and mowing lawns. Or rob a bank. It was for a breeding goup of zebbies 5 female, 5 males. Drool. Those NZ breeders disposed of their breeding stock to Aust. I think someone had wet pockets by the time they got to Ozz. Alan 104
  17. Ummm Alan, newts don't have a hard shell on them like turtles. I feed mine in the water, but I await Beccys call. This should teach me something too. Alan 104
  18. Here's a cost that I bet ya don't know about. The cost of using a tank at the importers quarantine station. I was quoted $800 per tank for killies that the NZKA were thinking of importing. But that was the first quote, there may be more friendly importers that haven't got all their tanks in use. Air Freight is the killer too. Alan 104
  19. And the stuff he used will kill fish if used in an aquarium. Alan 104
  20. This is the baby I have. It is model LP-60A http://www.fine-yasunaga.co.jp/english/ ... lp-30a.htm Serves three rooms adequately. Alan 104
  21. Is this the one?? http://cgi.ebay.de/Beluefter-Durchlueft ... otohosting If so, sell it for what you can get to some other unsuspecting critter, and invest your ill gotten gains in a pump similar to "The Pump" I have one but it's to dark to wake up the fish yet to check out it's credentials, I'll could let you know latter. I can tell it's on cause I can hear the bubbles in the tank. If I want to be really sure, I feel the pump for vibrations. So all you'd need to do to alliviate the vibes is to stick it onto some low density polystyrene. Alan 104
  22. You are one lucky guy Frenchy, glad you pulled thru the crisis area and now hope there will be any lasting damage. Definately go higher than those school-kid doctors, they'll stick together, but if necessary go to your local radio station or your MP, sometimes they do have their uses. You have talkback radio, HIT IT!! By the way, if you were using bleach, wouldn't the gas have been chlorine, now THAT is a killer, ask our boys that are left from the 1st WW how bad it was. Goodluck and my thoughts are with you at this time. That ambo guy better not have any vinegar on his chippies or he'll end up like you. Referring to the silicon glue statement, but one thing with that is the fumes from it. Now that is a whole different story. Alan 104
  23. Welcome aboard Al, As you have probably figured, we have some real good, knowledgible discus breeders. Looks like the beginning of a good name  Alan 104
  24. Hey Thunderstorm, what size tank or pond are you talking about?? Dimensions?? Thanks. Alan 104
  25. Looks like it is enjoying a feed of BBS by it's colour Aquanut. Alan 104
