  1. wow that is SO cool! Congrats! Have you got plans for all the fry? Have you got space for all the fry? they will take up a significantly bigger space than any other fishes fry especially when they start to hit puberty. worth a thought.

    Double Guppy Fry

dang! that can't be comfortable! poor little dudes
  3. as for the loaches, Yes they will very likely eat your fry. I have seen some kuhlis we used to have inhaling baby platties happily.
  4. 25 is fine Our tanks normally run at 26 +/- a few degrees
  5. Oh i just re-read your post. Have you found somewhere to put the fry? If not perhapes an ice cream container floating in the top of you main tank will do? Or failing that if you want to borrow one of our little tanks to set up for a while you are welcome to. I can't offer you any heaters at the moment as they all seem to be in use and you will have to pop over to pick up the tank but there is one here if you want.
  6. you have been privately messaged
  7. Every individual fish writes it's own set of rules. You just have to work out what they are. I have two male siamese fighting fish living happily together in a 2 & 1/2 x 1 x 1 foot tank. Never had any problems. No nipped tails or anything.
  8. I personally don't like the hang-on-the-side net breeders for raising fry at least because i found the fry would get squished between the hard plastic frame and the net. I prefer the floating plastic traps like this But i modify them by cutting away the whole floor and glueing the little grill plate onto the base. It means the adult fish has an extra inch of water space to swim and i never used the dividing plate either. I also filedthe slots so they were wider on the traps too as i found that some of my swordtail fry were too big and fat to fall through even when newborn. I have got 6 of these traps now. 2 original, 2 modified with original slots and 2 with widened slots. And have no complaints with them except when my girls jump out.
  9. We left at 1pm Sat, got to dunners at 6pm. Left at 7:30pm and after a coffe break got home at 1am this morning. Got Dicus in tank check tanks then bed. Got up about 7:30am, checked tanks BUGGER!!!!!!!!!! 6 foot tank has started to clean the carpet!! Looks to be about 10L frm the sump. Mrs L now has a job to do on our 1st wedding anniversary. That's the last time I talk about pressies to the fish
  10. We do the same as fish-unit and also never had a problem. I guess we have just been lucky though
  11. My ex's father used to fill his pool (sorry fresh water holding tank ) with a pipe from a creek. Always ended up with atleast 6 crawlies in the pool. Mr L
  12. never forget that you have tanks siphoning. Especially while visiting at hospital when you finally remember. (the looks I got by sprinting away from the hosp and not towards :-)
  13. Cheers, I think hubby was not aware that i shouldn't need a tank or anything while i am up there as the fish i take up will be in the show. I think he was thinking of me needing a tank in the motel unit for fish.
  14. It sounds like the Welly people need theirs sent a day early. Isn't this normally called a handicap in some sports
  15. Loopy wants to know if the fish entered needs to be bred buy the owner and not bought. She is thinking of coming up for it. Also would there be any chance in borrowing a setup for the comp? It would be a bit awkward to take a tank on the plane. Cheers Mr Loopy
  16. Not yet. Just trying to get the house warmer without using the fire
  17. Ok Wilson I'll refrase that. We NEED more fish :-) Mr L

  21. The main fish that was discussed died today. It started eating but only for a few days really. Then it stopped, struggled with breathing then today arrived in the big fishtank in the sky.
