  1. Shannon, the gold gourami and 3 spot are the same species . the gold simple maybe a male or dominant female. does the gold have a larger slitly pointed dorsel fin or id it the same as the girls?
  2. I didn't realize duckweed had been clasafied as noxis  , there are two plants that are called water sprite 1 has broad leaves in water and fine leaves out of the water the other has fine leaves always and grows in the substrate (pots) more readly. both are fast growers
  3. I didn't realize duckweed had been clasafied as noxis  ,
  4. That an interesting reply from Shilo, if your tanks have a common filtation system you may even look at duck weed .(think I may try this myself in the future) it's fast growing and can be harvested as a veg componant in your fish food. you would need a tank or more dedecated for it i'm sure you wouldn't want it in your "fish" tanks
  5. I've noticed this too with both the common and snowfake b/n. in my case it was just pale fry they coloured up quit nicely.
  6. Everthing you have said is fine other then putting your fish directly in a polybox - they can leck over time . it would be safer to put them in a large bucket with air stone and heater before and after transport , until the tank is ready for them. you seem to have everything in hand
  7. HI Flash_liam, you don't mention what type of filter you have either, undergravel or canister ? if gravel you should be fine, try not to disterb it to much. if canister I would drain most of the water from it this will stop the bacteria from suffercaiting(*spelling) you can get away with a 50% water change, as long as the water is up to temp it's just not recommended. you can help your self by getting water containers 20lt + and fill them NOW, that way when you come to use them in 3 weeks the water will have aged enough for there not to be a issuse with cemicals in your water suppy and the dissolved gasses will have gone(little bubbles that form on the glass when just set up). with your fish Bill's idea is fine how ever if your fish get chilled you may get white spot , keep an eye on them after the movefor a week or 2. best of luck on the move
  8. O U WILL C ON WEDNESDAY
  9. standard killi breeding tank for most species is 300mmx200mmx200mm =12lt, a pair or trio are fine in there if water is keep clean, reg small water changes
  10. I don't think that size tank is aloud Ant. misnoma, I just use home made sponge filters or plastic box filters. bear bottem (no gravel ), easer to keep the tank clean as the amount of food you feed your fry increases .
  11. yes a standard 2 foot tank is perfect =600mmx300mmx300mm = 50lt tank or thou it depends on how many fry you have you could grow around 100 fish to 25mm long or 40 to 40mm long in that tank no trouble at all.

    Breeding Frenzy

cool Eon the panda apisto's breed already, there still babys
  13. Kyle, American flag fish eggs DO NOT hatch in 2 days, at best it would take 5 to 6 days. I think you must have found some eggs that were layed some days before. Any way join the nzka and email fishbait for all you need to know. feeding bbs is fine. wouldn't be to bad if there was alge in the tank too, they'll chop on that aswell. good luck. p.s look for something special in the shipment i'm sending you.
  14. Summer is better, but I had plants melt when I thought they would be ok. havn't done this for years so i'm a lot rusty, I think a 1% bleach dipping solution but get that checked.
  15. Penjane, as it's winter you can't just throw them in a tropical tank they will melt / die, warming them up slowly at this time of year is the only way to go sorry. I would take Shilo's advice too and clean the plants. 1 bug you DON'T what is hydra, it can be a real pain to have in your tanks or thou gourami love them.
  16. Thats cool misnoma, did you get the eggs off Eon. man they grow fast, I've got some palmqvisti TAN 95 that are 6 weeks old and are breeding already.
  17. work it out your self M/A . put some in a glass and do tests with differant salt concentrations. I would start at 1.5tp per 4lt, as I know 1tp per 4lt dosn't work .
  18. In MHO the only thing that could be done better is a front on veiw

    Crazy Pleco

 Pleco's are like that . had a friend with a 2foot sailfin pleco that would belly up at the top of the tank just under the feeding hole to receive it's cube of tubifex worms. it would then sink to the bottem righting it's self and chop away. liked a scratch on it's belly too.
  20. Kyle will be able to give you all the help you need, I'm sure he would be happy to do so.
  21. Wecome Mav007 I'm in the procese of building a new fish room too, but have the power conected to a rcd at the switch board. If it flicks off a small red light comes on at the switch board to alert me. good luck
  22. I'll pm you when it's time.
  23. I think that he lost so many he kept them for breeding, but that was the last I heard of them. N. rachovi was also imported last year by Redwoods unfortunatly only males got sent
  24. How's this for growth. 15 days ago my fry were 1.5cm long, there now pushing 4cm or 5cm:lol:,the smallest ones are 3cm have about 50/50 males and females which is nice, better then all 1 sex like you can get.
