meesheelly if your notho male is pressing the female to the gravel they are not trying anything -- They ARE spawning. I used gravel when spawning my notho's. What I did when collecting the eggs what siphon the top of the gravel ( at no stage did the siphon dig into the gravel just across the top) and run the water through a net sitting on a bucket. You will get a little muck with the eggs so what I did to get rid of the muck was stir up the water containing the eggs ( say a 500ml container ) and you should find the eggs fall to the bottom first then I poored off the water and muck. It took 2 or 3 goes at this untill I was left with pure eggs I hen added them to the peat that was in the tank ( as Alan has explained ). Here is a pick of what you may find in your gravel The black bits are peat.

Hi Wilson, what the others have said is quit correct, However the secret to breeding rams apart from the obvious lol you need a male and female is they like it hot, @ 28 to 30C they are not to hard to breed. The fry are harder to raise though.

I's up to you Hands weather you have 5 or 7 tanks, the 300x300 is plenty big enough even for the largest killi we have here - cus I use to breed then in that size tank. Your suggestions Hands are OK so is Woks. However some of the gardneri ( they get a little bigger )would prefer 300x200x200 you don't want to stunt them.

Australe 18 - 22C. Dageti 24C. If you intend breeding them, the dageti fry will have skewed sexes if bred to hot ( male ) or to cold ( female ).

Young angels are also very hungry fish they eat heaps, So you may like to try feeding them more often - not more per feed - but more feeds per day. I found when I was breeding them you could pretty much feed them each time I past the tank = every hour , they are pigs.

Do you mean, if you put a lime stone rock in your tank will it be ok.?? What is the context of you question??

You put them in your pocket so they don't get to hot or cold. Walking shacks them about ( shacking them in you hand works too ) simulating--- I have know idea --- in ceased water flow ??. Either way it does work I've done it may times. You just have to make sure the eggs are ready to hatch = you can see perfectly formed eyes looking back at you through the egg shell. they even do lop the lop in their eggs, it crazy. :lol: Killies can be a heap of fun to breed.

Contact aquanut I know he was breeding them and as they are one of the pretties killies in the country probably still is.

It may be, but then again fish get the odd spot and the next day it's gone. But if you see more and more then yes it probably is, don't treat just yet but keep a close eye on them. Water change as you mentioned is good, just make sure the water is same temp as tank you don't want to stress fish any more then they are. Keep testing water you will notice nitrite kick in next. You may like to do smaller water changes more often, say 5% a day to avoid the swings in your water chemistry.

Hi Sam It could be a parasite it sounds like it but it could also be irritation of the fish skin due to you tank cycling still. If you do have a parasite it is most likely white spot look for tinny white specks on the fins. If it is your water then you will need to do a water change, do you have test kits to check were your tank is in the bio cycle ammonia , nitrite and nitrate.

Sorry to here, but it could have died from anything. I've seen some realy bad infections with the fish still "looking" healthy, they do stop reproducing at that stage thou. I'm not familier with piperazine only levamisole, don't know what is the active ingredent is in piperazine. Good luck with your treatment, I hope you don't have to rip your tank apart.

Tank space, if they don't not have buckets/spare tank for 250lt's + for water changes, then that could be a problem too. I did say "may".....either way a new plan of attack would have to be used.

A really bad case means there are lots of worms sticking out of the ... , I can see changing 250+ LT could be a problem but it has to be done. As your not able to really get into the nocks and crannys ( sounds like a nice tank ) you may as well do a third treatment. But keep an eye on the fish during the treatment and after to make sure you have cleared it. If it does not work you may have to bite the bullet and strip the tank of plants, wood and rock but only as a last resort.
