I think this is how I'll do my new set-up if I ever get the time. :digH:
  4. Hey guys. with some reading we can all get these great results. I encourage all to give it a go. Pity to see this tank broken down and sold.
  5. Not sure of the MAF delays as weeks ago my facility went through the final check with flying colours. First order list approved and now just waiting. Nearly 300 fish for the first shipment plus inverts etc....... Just waiting and waiting and waiting.................. :gaaah: I would hate to see what the budget cuts are going to do. At least I have had time to improve improve and improve the set-up. And study disease prevention and triple the effectiveness of the filtration...... I'm ready to go. :habw My fish have been outside for to long (hardening the system) and I miss them. An empty tank looks gay in the lounge.
  6. a big anemone and pair of clowns with some shrimp. will look cool as and be realitively easy to maintain
  7. Hey well underway, Did a pressure test today on the plumbing tonight. Had to re-do plumbing on the main tanks so I could get enough flow. Photos I'm not sure whether I will be showing anyone in the facility as I have been into two other facilities and mine is far more advanced in my opinion and I am trialling a new media for ammonia nitrite control.. and I don't want copy cats.. haha I have built with advice from a American Dr In Marine Biology... so should be stable and hold stock in good conditions. Took 18 months to get this far and heaps and heaps of cash so I will be pretty closed on most photos and information. Although there will be a web site. Will be bringing in fish and coral as I have a large capacity with room to up tank water capacity by 30% if need be. But I am going to back away from selling equipment so I can concentrate in quality healthy fish and corals. (AND yes my system can be switched from salt to fresh water within hours (will still cycling media for both fresh and saltwater with their own media control centres)
  8. Just awaiting the final site visit. All systems are go...... Reason I posted is so everyone can get excited. Like me.
  9. I have a pair which is great, they swim everywhere together (just got them) Get it wrong and they will fight and can kill on other
  10. I have been adding NSW now for 4 years. Easy get it from the raglan boat ramp. 60 litres dumped cold into the system (500 litre) Changes the temp by about 1-1.5 degrees everything seems to love it.
  11. Have a look at my post in the private sales if your interested in getting some learner frags for your tank.
  12. thats why I said check first. Oh well back to the drawing board
  13. The easiest answer and I always say it. Buy a cleaner shrimp. As the name suggests they clean. Its amazing what they work away at. They also look cool. I suggest that every marine tank should have a least two. Unless you have fish that will eat them. ust check the wrasse wouldn't eat it first. Never had a bird nose wrasse
  14. The quality of your skimmer is key as you need to get as much waste as you can from the water. Otherwise it pollutes the water (put simply). But deltec is expensive its the needle wheel pumps that are the most important part.

  16. I see we are all doing our power saving for the country.....haha about $100 a month for power Reef central has a tank power consumption calculator, you just have to change the cost per unit to match your power companies. And it tells you the cost.

  18. good luck with the copperband.
  19. I love the tank building process, but if I dit it again in the next 5 years i'd get shot.
  20. hey bro, I would remove the hose clamp, just incase it rusts and could pollute your tank. cheers ru
