    what am i?

had them before, nothing seemed to mind, numbers have reduced with my mandarin fish

    high nitrates

much higher and you anemone may get stressed. I had that problem for a while. Water changes, reducing feeding will help. There was a couple of other things but I can't remember off hand. Cheers

    Thanks Reef!

yes got a kit for my MCE600 works great. As for the cutting of a rose bubble tip, if reef was to supply all the demand, then he would have to cut up about 100 pieces
  6. Yip those cannisters are a great set-up to stuff 20-30 fish in a couple of tanks
  7. Slappers said to hear about the naso
  8. The best marines shop in Hamilton is....... JANSENS in auckland
  9. Laguna 5 to be added this weekend
  10. I cannot believe the difference in the last three-four days... I don't know exactly what is is. SCWD wave thingee, strotium, magensium, KH high, ph on the increase to 8.1, soft trace, hard trace, a reef booster, and reef roids...... Hmmmm I have been dosing like a crazy man :bounce: :bounce: , but WOOWWW My bubble tip anemone has been growing, but yesterday I noticed some changes.... For the first time its tips are swelling up and looing like real "bubble" tips, also all corals are going crazy, three mushroom splits, and a dieing coral I though I couldn't seem to help is opening up.. Not to mention if my clam could smile he would be...
  11. Eheim 1250 pump, see trade and exchange
  12. I have no trouble growing corraline algae. My tanks got rocs coated completed. When my levels come up, I don't think I will even be able to see any rock..
  13. Wow. I also found that my strotium levels hardly register on the test kit, and magnesium is at about 800. I have added a reef booster, and a few other additives over the last two days... The results are looking good really, REALLY fast. (I am worried though, I noticed my clams shell has some cracks, in it... ... Poor guy been battling for months now..., But he has looked far happier in the last two days, as I increase my magnesium slowly, and strotium, and keep my KH high, and calcium high, as well as his home directly under the halide. So fingers crossed he will grow as fast a JDM's His maxima clam was outgrowing my clam by 3-4 cms a month... every month
  14. """The techos will say that low pH equals acidic which means too much CO2 not enough o2 in your tank/air. Keeping the house shut up too much or using gas heaters???? """" Thanks Rossco. We have been pumping the gas heater in our little home all winter.. Interesting as last year my ph never really moved (we didn't have a gas heater then)
  15. Its sits at about 7.8- 8.0 midday- late afternoon. I don't check it in the morning as I am to scared..... I am adding ph rasing stuff daily, (Reef Buffer, and baing soda, and Waldeys ph increaser) Does anyone know why it would drop all the time. (My water top up is part of the reason but i'm sure that cannot be the only thing)
  16. My power bill was $200 this month... I almost went nuclear.... (mainly electric heating)
  17. Hey I am doing a uni assignment and need a pod cast for Global warming and coral reef damage. Does anyone know of a link. Cheers Ru
  18. What mean as equipment and lighting set-ups. I have to make do with the single 150watt. My wife would shoot me over a $450 power bill.
  19. To feed one put the food onto its tenticles (hopefully it will stick and the anemone will eat it) The second one is harder. Some clowns will race into an anemone others don't even realise its there. (Best advice is let the anemone find the place it likes and then feed close to the anemone. If you try to force the clowns near it they will get scared and swim away)

    KP's Tank Build

Tank looking good so far KP.
  23. I found that the only way to help a sick clown is with an anemone. As I think the tenticles sting anything to death. They will never let a cleaner shrimp anywhere near them. Try copper, but not in your main tank.. be careful, don't cross-contaminate your tank. Copper wastes invertibrates fast and kills them dead in even very small amounts.
  24. My 350 litre, 33 coral, 1 clam, 1 anemone, 1 big starfish, 3 crab, 2 shrimp, 8 fish, tank. (PS most fish seem to hid when I have a camera) Also my anemone when purchased.. (that the small anemone were the clown is longer than it. Then 4 months latter pic. (I stopped feeding it almost three weeks ago and it just keeps growing Also no phto shopping
  25. I think yellow leathers are easily the hardest leather to keep. In my opinion. Thats under metal halides that is. I am giving my second one a goo at the moment. Now trying it beside my pulsing xenia as I think they like the same conditions.
