  2. So my order is for the Cockatoos and Agassizi please. Great news wish we had more people down here breeding apisto's. My Panduro are growing well but slowly, eat flake now as well as BBS and M/Worms. What did you do to make them spawn, I got the Panduro to spawn with a little peat and slightly cooler water changers.
  3. What is the weather like up there today? Is the road from Wellington to Greytown open and likely to stay open? Freighting fish and don't want them to be held up so might look at sending tomorrow. It's snowing in CHCH at the moment and you could say its a little bit cold.
  4. Aquaflavine is my first step, Furan2 second step. Need photo to see where your at. Aquaflavine is easyer on your fish and cheaper.
  5. Aquaflavine is ok to treat the whole tank. I use it when my discus have damaged fins and a bit of fungus, any thing bad needs more.
  6. Aquaflavine to start with. Depends how bad it is.
  7. I'm an apisto nut as well. Will have a talk to Bob at Redwood about getting some in.
  8. I find the best way to stop them eating there eggs is to stop watching!!! There are any number of reason why they do this but if you have them in there own tank as high as you can from the floor with clean water they should in time sort it out themselves.

Both my GBA's and BN breed so much I've had to take the females away from the males. Found that cold water changes get them going

    Snail eaters

What are the best loachs to get to clean my tanks of snails or does any one want to fatten theirs up at my place. Mostly 3 foot tanks so not to big.
  12. ARH Don't dis the boxer they are very smart dogs. If I get to close to the fire mine will stand in-between me and the fire to protect me. He loves cats and will let one sleep on him and its not funny the amount of time the cat comes in with a drool mohawk. The parrots don't like him but if they are out side he brings them a biscuit. He’s about 12 now and the last couple of years has cost us a bit with cancer and joint problems but would get another not a problem.
  13. Caryl I think you'll find that the tax take has increase at more than the CPC for the term of this government. The problem with the RUC going up is that they will effect us all when there is no money left to pay so some thing has to be cut back and a lot of people cut back on heat and food. The problem with this current government is that they haven’t had to work in the real world; Helen has been on a benefit her whole life she hasn’t had to make a profit. The place I work for would like to put there prices up but if we did this our customers wouldn’t be in business so we would lose so we have to find ways of doing things better. The government on the other hand doesn’t understand this and will just take more from us. Back to petrol price’s, supply is running out and there is no new oil only oil that is worth taking due to the high prices paid. To under stand the current situation goggle peak oil or there’s a DVD called crude awaking that is worth watching. Opec will continue to tell every one that they have heaps but they don’t want to have their customer finding other things to use instead of oil. Sure does put a bight light on my Bush went into Iraq.

    New Tank

I think BBA suits a Discus tank, well thats my excuse. You could try some Whiptail cats in there goes with the Discus, rams and some Apisto’s etc so many options. Tank looks good and the Discus look happy.
  15. I rate the Kaka ahead of the Kea, they have a stronger bite.
  16. What do people feed their whiptails? I've set up a breeding tank and rather than give them a bit of every thing would rather target their requirements. Also any other tips on bring them into spawning.
  17. Conch what I'm saying is that with every importation there could be a disease that no one knows about so there is a risk with every importation of any live animal, so you can never be 100% sure there is no risk. Which is the reason behind people saying you can’t bring parrots in this also stands for every other live animal, you could even go so far to say that this also applies for people as well. You could say that ships also bring pest in so they shouldn’t be allowed into port either. No one has given any reason why parrots can’t be imported that doesn’t also apply to any other animal including humans. Going home for the weekend now so will have to review this Monday.
  18. But David they don't review it. They say they don't have the time and resource to do this. Which is the point they have banned without doing a full review. When they did Let a guy in Northland bring a whole shipment of birds in to the country a while a go he passed all the tests and then when they got here they said it wasn’t enough and put them all down. If we where given the chance on a level playing field I’m sure that there is a chance but we just never get given the time.
  19. But conch there is a risk with every importation that a new disease will come in so that means no to any importations of any live animal every again.
  20. Conch, so does that mean we shouldn't increase the risk by importing more fish? Right?
  21. Vinson I should have the same rights as you to import animals with the same risk as you have in your tank/ back yard. Why should I have fewer rights than you because your animals have fur and scales while mine have feathers? This is the whole point if the law was fear across the board there would be nothing to discuss.
  22. But Vinson that means we should ban all important of all live animals. So where do we draw the line and how should this be decided.
