    inline heaters

I used to run Hydor external heaters, could get them here in NZ. They stopped selling them because the 300's had an over heating problem, or so i was told. I would say they have probably fixed that problem by now, it was about 10 years ago. I never had any problem with my 300w, good heater and does take the gear out of the tank.
  2. Great vid, cheers
  3. Cricketman thats cool, ive never seen that before, well done :slfg:
  4. Hey all , I'm new to Tropheus  , and I've been doing a bit of reading on the net about feeding them. I've come across heaps of conflicting info :dunno: , as you do with the web. I found this page, it was a really good read :cofn: , check it out.... http://www.newlife.ipbhost.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=328
  5. If you have smaller fish :smln: once ox heart is frozen you can use a cheese grater on it !drool: that's what i used to do :sage: Variety is the key.
  6. My brother kept fish for years, never using any products at water change , all good no losses. I myself use prime, i think its not worth the risk :sage: , especially if they change the amount of chlorine added to town supply. Sorry for your loss , bummer you forgot  , maybe smaller water changes are ok(still not worth the risk) without using, just not larger ones. Does sound a bit strange that this happend though :-?
  7. Yep my Daughter and I saw these tanks the other day, they are truly amazing , Babies are doing well coral, settling in nicely
  8. Hagen Power glo bring out the colours of africans nicely, not as white/yellow looking as daylight, also i have seen cheaper tropical tubes that look like they would be around the same colour.
  9. Yep durso standpipe will fix this prob for sure, great invention, very easy to make
  10. Great, thanks for the replies. I would'nt have thought the pet shop would sell dodgy gravel, cheers
  11. Hey all , I was cleaning the glass on my tank today, and noticed that the gravel sticks to my magnetic cleaner . This must mean that it contains some metal yea :dunno: . I cant seem to find much on the net about this, it is a proper aquarium gravel from a pet shop, white with black specs. Does anyone know if this will be a problem to my plants and inhabitants they all seem ok at the mo? cheers. 8)
  12. What about aqua kneed it? it sets hard though.

    pump

You could try running the u.g filter with a couple of power heads, it will be totally silent.
  15. Sweet, that sounds good, I def reccomend t5 over t8, but thats just down to personal preference and $ as well i guess. I saw an arcadia twin t5 retro unit at hollywood, over $300 It will be good when that kind of gear becomes more popular, maybe it might come down in price  My mate lives in tha phillipines and hes always E-mailing and going on about how cheap fish keeping gear is  Any ways, T5s if you can afford
  16. Yea thats wat i mean, with T5 ballast.

  18. Not DE only single end, i asked at two different s.o.g.
  19. You could try T5 24 watt instead of T8, way higher output

    test kits?

Yep you can, they might need to order them though. if you have a Kh and Ph test kit, you can use this chart for Co2 http://www.aquatic-plants.org/articles/khph_table/khph_table.html
  21. I have used it in aquariums, with no ill effect. It would prob be better to use silicone, but i wanted a quick fix and didint want to wait for it to cure
