  1. Yea hrv doesnt come with a heat pump, but it is an optional extra. I find the air is easier to heat, because it is alot dryer, we used to use a gas heater, now all we need is a colum heater.
  2. My house is a small two bedroom with a study, 97 sqm, and HRV installed 5 vents, every room + study. Dvs came around and said one vent will be enough, personally i dont think so. Nice work chim, will be interesting to see what you think, i checked my windows last nite and we had a tiny bit of condesation on them, but nothing major, mind you its been really cold and we have had the heater blasting.
  3. Chim, i would recommend HRV to anyone, we had such a condensation problem, water pooling on the ledge and so on. I have never used dvs but no a few people that have them and arent that impressed( appologies to dvs users ), hrv instal vents in every room possible, and the filter is better quality than dvs(but way more expensive to replace). Just my two cents, Dvs might be all good, but you wont go wrong with hrv
  4. My house is over 50 years old so HRV works great, but i could see how there could be problems in a new house, with all the alloy joinery and so on.
  5. Ha, tried that one, the wife wont let me, apparently we might need again some time  , even though i told her i would buy her a nice RODI unit to look at
  6. HRV, awsome, house is dry as a bone, can even dry washing inside if i have to. Put a dehumidifier on for a few hours and dont get any moisture, sits dormant in the garage now. Heaps of evaporation though, have to keep the plants watered heaps as well.
  7. Yip, but sometimes last a bit longer, i have run them for yonks without changing them
  8. Good to hear its ok, I added a green bta, not long after you started this thread, had the same probs. Got up the next morning and found him wedged under the heater , then it ended up, upside down behind my rock formation. I have anemone proofed my tank now, heater guard, and foam wrapped around power head intakes(pain in the butt) hopefully find some plastic mesh somewhere. Lucky i did because i got up about a week ago and it was stuck on the foam over the intake getting blown around . Anyway its found a spot it likes and has had a couple of feeds of uncooked shrimp, seems to be doing well :bounce: it can walk around all it likes now and i dont have to worry
  9. Ive been contemplating putting a stream on my tank 130ltrs, you could try a couple of aqua clear 301's or maybe the bigger ones. Or maybe a sieo :-?
  10. Looks good, was following behind a ute the other day which had one on the back exactly the same.
  11. Sea horses with nice white sandy substate 8)
  12. Yea they are nice looking, so is it just yours that likes polyps? or are they not really reef safe?
  13. Yea, i would say phosphate, cause my nitrates are zero. I havnt got a po4 test kit yet  , its hair algae, and its only on a few pieces of rock near the top, so its not out of control but its starting to get worse. Maybe i should run some Rowaphos, see if it makes any difference.
  14. Cool thanks Kermit, would this fish get to big for my setup? Its a Ar620 t , so its not a long tank.
  15. Hey all, can anyone recommend a good algae eating fish i could put in my 130ltr setup? 8)
  16. Cool, thanks. Done a google on it, but didnt have much luck, cheers.

  22. Thanks Bill, i have tried a digital probe kind from the chemist, the kind that beeps when its taken the temp, they dont seem to work. So i guess its the glass ones are the ones to get.

    tels tank

Tel Ive tried vodka, about 1.5 ml tp my 130 ltr tank daily, nitrates went to zero in about a week and a half, and my cyno nearly all gone( alittle bit around the base of base rock). Ive knocked the dose back to 1ml a day, and will keep knocking it back till i dont have to use it. I will see how my tank reacts.
