loaches dont have scales so are more sensitive to any treatment.
The general rule with scaleless fish is to half the treatment dose. works well.
Snowman is right about turning the heat up to 29-30C, just remember to turn it down again.
Make sure you do regular water changes while using the treatment, and once it is over. remember to remove any carbon before using a treatment. And i would treat the whole tank, if a couple of fish have white spot it will generally spread to more!
good luck

muddy,
i work in an LFS and i can honestly say that I have NEVER given wrong advice in the hope that things will go wrong in the customers tank and i will make more money as a result.
Many customers dont have a lot of money and I will always try and find the cheapest way for them to do something, even if that means them going to another LFS for something.
I will also not sell a customer something that I dont think they need or want! they are less likely to return if they feel that we are just after their money!
I think that you shouldnt generalise so much! what u say may be the case at some LFS, but certainly NOT mine!

gold nuggets are beautiful! but not very hardy!
I had one for over two months, he was growing and coming out loads, then one day did a water change and that night he was belly up.
and they are not easy to breed. they are very aggressive to other gold nuggets, so it has to be done carefully!
enjoy them though! and good luck

thanks critter guy! that was what i was looking for.
would soaking it in vinegar help with speed up the process of making it fish friendly? Obviously if it makes the PH go really high that is a bad thing.
anyone got any suggestions?
thanks

hi all
I know someone who is wanting to put a concrete rock formation in their tank, i know this has been discussed somewhere on this forum, but cant find it (admits to not looking very hard)
Do you have to coat the concrete in something to make it safe for the fish? does it have to be a certain type? and advice or comments welcome!
Thanks

have you used any treatments in the tank? Loaches dont have scales and are very senstitive to treatments, which can burn their skin, which makes them look like they have a white slime. Do a good water change, add something to remove any chlorine or chemicals in the water too. Something like Melafix would probably help too.
good luck

they are pretty cool arent they!! Only thing is they like to hide a lot! They are much better when you have good numbers of them. How many did you get?
Plecs
well, we were talking about plecos, and some are on the list, but it hasnt been updated for the latest plecos available, but they over look that.
however, you couldnt bring in something completely new, or dangerous!

i was speaking to an importer a couple of weeks ago. He said that MAF do come and visit three times, and it costs $150 per visit plus travel, so can work out expensive if you live far from where the MAF amn comes from.
He also said that the MAF import list hasnt been updated in years, and that they are not very strict on holding you to it (within reason).

i disagree, could well be the o ring, which do still need lubricant (they come with it and it says so in the book).
could also be the impellar though, it should be cleaned regulaly. trial and error and you will get there.
let us know how it goes

could be air getting in, have you used any lube on the rubber seal since you have had it? if not that could be the problem, any lfs should be able to order you a new seal in.
otherwise make sure it is clean and the water can run through no probs. But the seal would be my guess.
