    Pig heart?

haha, herre you go, beef heart galore. variety is still better. but mammalian meat does do wonders to bulk up fish i used to feed a ball of mince beef heart to the loaches and comm i had. but messy. the water gets fouled with a slime layer on top. if you hvae an over flow its not so bad.
  2. a 600 litre as a temporary home when ir earranged heaters, he took shelter in the forest of heaters and burnt one side, few spots where the scales have gone and heating, but he is ok.
  3. its fine. as long as you don't drop it or distinct sharp points.

yeah, precisely. I think its annoying when companies do that. it irritates me, I mean, they could have introduced something fancier with the fx6 just to sweeten the deal maybe. maybe in build heating. in build thermometer. in built ph, thermometer, heater. etc. I mean, it isn't difficult. it proabably costs $10 more, they can sell that premium for $20
  5. aro introducd today. currently stock red aro 30 cm fem jag 2x parrot 2c sun cat 1x albino sailfin 1x 8cm texas 1x 15 cm midas female currently , the female jag is queen, aro introcued and they are duking it out in term sof territory. I hope it doesn't carry on. both have a couple of scratches. adding more cichlids will distract both fish im sure. a bit dark lighting is still to come, 4x led strip lighting.

I have always been a huge fan of canisters. but recently, i decided to do away with them completely. the unit looks cool but apart from more efficient power ($10 a year) - there is no different, everything looks the same! in saying that, why fix it if it ain't broken?
  7. i was thinking a square timber frame, some middle bits going accross. and then poly or mdf on top. i think mdf would be better than poly as it is stiffer. options: 1) timber frame - mdf on top or poly 2) 50mm poly 3) 2x 20/25mm mdf no poly 4) 25mm poly on top of mdf or reversed what would be better ?
  8. what ways are there to avoid making a frame. if i use a very thick layer of poly, will this work? say 50mm poly? or do i need to make a frame and poly on top to avoid a crack a gain? i have had this sump on the ground with a 20mm poly an dnever had issues, recently i added a second sump sitting on top of the sump as a trickle, i would say the weight probably contributed to the imbalance of the weight. if i get another sump, what easier methods can i use to 'even' out the ground instead of using a frame? or is a frame really the only way? looking for least path of resistance.
  9. Not yet too small. I have a big jag coming tomorrow. Female.
  10. you never know. horror stories of FH taking out eyes, Giant gouramis too. the aro needs to be the dominant one in my tank but should be ok. a small texas cant do much damage i suppose
  11. haha, ok, ill accept that. but i would correct it to say... obsessed....
  12. could just be algae from the super bright lights of the tank hood?
  13. haha, everyone to their own - not everyone is stupid enough to buy a fish worth that much! besides, i probably paid a little too much anyways, i probably could have haggled or imported myself:D
  14. I have a fem jag coming. i want a tex eventually, just wondering, i dont want any parings of cichlids in the tank how easy will it be for a 30cm jag fem and a smaller tex male pairing up? is it like a convicts situation, they just do it or is it harder than that wtih a community of predators?
  15. Haha I am sure its as exciting fo rme as it is for David :spop:
  16. UPDATE: last thursday, wa smy fill day, would fill third third third. but upon filling, corner on the right was leaking ever so slowly. had to empty and patch up. patched both sides on the front so looks uniform and also creats a thicker boirder on the vertical side. fast forward, filled up completely, everything is running now. 16c starting temp, 21.5c as of this morning. first few fish intro is thursday. when i was filling it up, i was having i thought to be sounds of cracks, creaks and explosions. but turns out that the sump did indeed crack at the base, no doubt the uneven concrete floor. the leak is tiny, so will hold for now. but replacing it with a bigger more efficient sump - frame to sit on the floor to make sure the edges of the sump is supported (thanks David R) for your help in advance :bounce: sufficed to say, i ddidnt get a good sleep last night - nightmares about the tank.
  17. I have been totally out of the loop - largely becauase I have nos pace, nothing like lack of space and cash to stop you from being n the loop - which usually ends in purchase :digH:
  18. I had one that was quite large. 25cms and had full colour however, you do make a point, similar to tiger datnoids (borneo tigers) they do go and change colour during certain things. feeding, fighting, being chased. I found that they were the most sensitive fish too out of the bunch.
  19. you can share here, we all appreciate fish generally:D I love FH! but recently, no good ones. also they tend to be long rangers and kill anything they can
  20. mmm viewtopic.php?f=11&t=63572 is this male or fem?
