  3. http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=468796 http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467665 dont kno w which one i want more, golden head, or FULL GOLD. is there a difference? King: we need ya! your opinion? what is the difference, what dose imperial have available. I know you told me the prices are same just different types of gold? I dont nkow which specimen Imperail has available - its so cionfusing, so many brand names.
  4. canisters have way more capacity int erms of bio filtration. internalsi find very good for mechanical but bio filtration can be weaker. canisters are easier to clean - detach hoses, takeit out side, clean. Internals you gotta disturb the tank lots. Also internals tend to take up inernal tank space, with a smallish tank, space is premium. canisters are less intrusive. go canister, the cost of canister vs a good internal isnt all that much
  5. i find that aliot of plecos on TM may never grow again, from past experience, people have this impression that plecos dont need food and they eat poo and just what ever is on the walls hence stunting them
  6. i have never had any fire eel, or eel species here in nz that will not readily convert to p rawns that is raw! starve it, with in a few days, it will eat prawn. cut the prawns to long very thin strips, it will think they are worms.

    fx5

awesome! thats what i like to hear, extreme over filtration! nothing better than over filtration. good work! i have an fx5 in my 360 litre grow out tank, works well:D
  8. this is my Tire track eel un known age, got it when it was about 45 to 50 cms long. now its about 70cms, maybe a tad smaller, but its the height of my tank which is 72cm. i dont know how long it took to get to 50cms, but it took me 2.5 years to get it from 50ish to now!! so its not quick
  9. buy prawns, RAW from supermarket. asian or normal supermarket, they are relatively cheap, on sale you can get them $10 to 13 per kilo, you feed half a prawn, dont feed too much as they digest pretty rapidly, meaning your water will fowl if your filter isnt up to it. so just half a prawn, when you can see some food bumps in the belly thats all good. temp , i suggest 25 to 28. i keep mind 28 to 29, hot days even 30. but generally 28. prawn is good, cheap j ust dont ever feed it cooked prawn!! as for size, it will get big, if you can get your fire eel to 36 inches, i will drive to tauranga and take it from you and adopt it  it will take a couple years estimated for a fire eel to reach that size, probably more and some never reach that size, its not as easy as it sounds to get your fire eel to get to that monstrous size so i wouldnt worry yet. if your tank is lightly stocked, 250 to 300 litres should be ok, just give big hiding caves or pipes, will be alright!
  10. mystery. hope its ok though! when scales get injured i just leave it, always falls off byitself, and its better that way. i hate this surgery stuff people do. its unneccesary!
  11. my one freaks out if kt gets substrate in its mouth. say trying to pick up shrimp from bottom and gets some sand in the mouth it freaks out. but jumping and hurting itself, maybe just startled. id just let it chill out. where do you live in aucks? animals can sense earthquakes easy auckland had a quake last night
  12. i think get some flower horns and cross the festaes with them! and an xb.................................................................
  13. yeah, still looks cool with the red lighting, still prefer the real colours. if i can get mine to blood red or dark orange with no fake lights. i will be happy.
  14. yeah, shows you those red tanning lights. they are not actually just tanning lights. real tanning darkens the fish to a darker colour. fake lights simply make reds enhanced to the human eye. i prefer teh less enhanced version, its the true colours. even in competitions in singapore,s ome are enhanced. Only when i see a photo of harvesting - and the red is blood red thats impressive!
