  1. yeah, im sure that is the case. we shall see i guess:D too bad, there doesnt seem to be any other reptiles that will come out that is deemed legal by maf. i think leopard will be as exotic as we get
  2. I dont think you will get a problem with maf with new strains. its like fish, you can selectively breed. currently i have noticed, the current bloodlines here of leopards are the normal colours and ones with larger dots. i havent seen anything more unusual. and not an expert in selectively breeding to get traits etc. but, albinos will be awesome! once there is an albino that pops up, doesnt that mean more can be produced quicker?
  3. i want large lizards!! komodo dragon anyone??
  4. maybe you can poo in the tank:D that will get the cycle goin :slfg: just make sure you eat fish food prior! 8) no seriously. i agree with the last few comments, maybe start again.
  5. this is very common in asia. even expensive asian aros are kept in 4 foot or 3 foot tanks, they can hardly turn. and yes ik have seen monsters in small tanks, but i think generally speaking, they dont grow as big in small tanks, this may be a fluke.
  6. I can guarantee you, in singapore if she is still in the country - she will be punished severely. here in nz, you will hardly get proper jail time i believe there, she would be jailed and lashed regularly as punishment.
  7. nothing rots in the red tank thats for sure. anything that drops past halfway is snatched up! prawn, beef, beefer mix, pellet, clown loaches, barb, flagtail will snatch it up instantly.
  8. yeah, definitely, all my aros in the past can see down, but some of them tend to ignore it. the jar would take ANYTHING it can in the tank. my black aro was lazier. RTG would eat anything it felt like.
  9. it would annoy me too but not the end of the world i guess. i have seen silvers here with no drop eye, feeding pellets may stop it as they constantly h unt upwards, wonder what the reason is, no one really knows right?
  10. at the hot point its about 28 to 29 - low point is about 22. of course some parts of the tank may be colder , maybe direct under the eater is slightly warmer but very localised, the temperature spread in the enclosure is broad so can regulate its body temp accordingly.
  11. yeah, as much as drop eye is undesirable. its not that big a deal, if it can eat, has good shape colour and health, cant complain really. in the wild, some silvers get dropeye. it perhaps may be genetic?
  12. this picture http://www.imperialarowana.com/gallery.php?gid=127-3fe8ad317d looks more like under whtie light, that is realistic p[erhaps its a vip from imperial, i would be happy wit that :happy1:
  13. they are definitely more than 50 grams when we started trying, i remember we weighed them and it was more than that. female was 57 i believe. yeah hope they can still breed, we will see i guess.
  14. yeah, got sent them awhile back. the parents are blood red i believe mine will get darker especiallyw ith tanning. but must keep in mind, in at ank, most of the 'blood red reds' you see out there are tanned outside in a pond and bought in for viewing and photography purposes. most have red lights. but yes, i would be happy if mine get that orange as its realistic. genetics really and tanning just tops it off. we will see i guess:D this are the reds they harvest from at imperial arowana blood red, but i am always sceptical of people posting VERY red aro pics, as most are in pink or red lighting. white light lol im obsessed under white light pics as they show true nature of the colours. but yeah, we will see:D
  15. ill check weights but they are sizeable. what weights are yours? they are about 3 and a half years old. how old are yours, maybe from same batch or different batch?
  16. yeah, can be accidental, gene pool can be a large factor too. we can see i guess, ill try next season. this sunday will separate and ask my mate to bring male here and give him females. hope they breed, i just want a colony of them lol
  17. not aggressive at all, none of them are. it is unlikely it was that reason. yeah, i dont want to accuse or go down that path, if it is that reason then there is nothing i can do about it. but i am optimistic. they were very young when i got them, juvenile patters - maybe 1 week into hatching, thtas what he told me anyways.
  18. yes, explored options of hot females. over incubated females are over agro and sterile. 3 years ago, i purchased them off haisley. i bought 1, and a friend bought a male. and hans gave me 2 females to look after indefinitely to try and breed, i havent attempted to breed those yet. hans' ones are about 1 or slightly more younger than my originla 2 yes i explored sterilisation to protect price, but of course, benefit of the doubt, as i expressed explicit interst in establishing a colony for private collection purposes, he told me they are able to breed. i believed him of course, it is impossible to know if it was a lie or not. i know is that he has sold some specimens to some, and they are breeding fine. hence the later generations are from his ones also. so i see no reason why he would deceive me at the time, albeit he hates me right now as we have all seen here, at the time, there was no reason for him to lie to me. then again, $$$ is a good reason for many - im not here to accuse i guess. but that has crossed my mind. i will try with the other two plus my ones, again a different method, see if it works. i had no intention of generating income from them as i knew that lizards drop in price ALWAYS, as we have seen with any other lizard on the market. its only a matter of time, it was for collection purposes.
  19. sorry yes i mixed it up :slfg: my bad i was looking at another! i take it back guys this is the problem when you have a fish addiction and juggling multiple auctions anyways, what is this synodontis? straight from the horses mouth
  20. ok cool will do can i mix 2 other females with the one female? so 3 females in one cage then intro the male into the cage of 3 females?
  21. person selling it says eruptus. eruptus is the most common one also known as featherfin. has many many spots, almost some are stripey oval spots. the occelated is heaps of spots on it but i agree, its close to that. any ideas? so if most are hybrids, then there is no way of really pinpointing this species it may not actually be an officia one
  22. who should i introduce, should i take male away and intro into the female cage or female intro into male cage? what month should i start the intro? and should i turn all heaters off fully?
  23. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/Fish/Fish/auction-386562172.htm not too many spots. not a decorus - decorus is full of spots.
