  1. yes it is for sale. it is indeed extremely large and still has the potential to get bigger. not all fire eels will EVER get that large. most would and are stunted, when a fire eel gets that large in aquaria, it means it has past a certain point of growth that most dont get to due to death or stunting. if you get that eel, feed it a diet of shrimp, I betyou it will get a good growth spurt as i was told, it was fed mainly on bloodworms. if that is the case, bloodworms has a very low protein %, prawn has more than double bloodworm in terms of wet weight. its not a bad price for a HUGE fire eel. I was tempted to get it but i already have a fire eel im growing.
  2. i thnk 8 foot is ok, bigger is better, front to back width is key i think, some keep them in tanks where they are almost the same width. but i agree, that tank is a bit small for 8 arowanas, when they get large, it will be very small for them. really they should be in a very big tank or pond.
  3. the likelihood of this tank not being in asian is slim considering it has 8 or so asian arowanas lol
  4. a number of times the true altums have been imported in. I remember phil collis having them - imported wild types. also an outfit in tauranga apparently has imported them a few times before. there must be some specimens lying around?
  5. yes, Hff has some good ones, pick of the bunch i think. they are nice stripes, perfect gill plates, finnage and nice distinct lines. so getting some tomorrow morning from there, im sure they will have some left
  6. Have sold all of my bichirs (bye bye monster dels!!! :tears: ) only 2 palmas left which i think will go soon. getting another 12 to 15 angels to grow out so i can pick the good ones, want a good school for my amazonia style tank.
  7. coo machine, can make human feed too:D efficient feed. yeah, cooking can destroy goodies right?
  8. thought of something just now... god knows how and why lol but how do they dry fish food, do they cook it in the oven or dehydrator? ... i know they make it sink or float by density, but drying. pellets are not freeze dried.... i assume it starts of wet, then turned into granules, and dried? anyways, saw a programe on how they m ake matches, interesting stuff! so yeah, curious lol
  9. yeah, i reckon just fine dark gravel. The wood is fine, its a nice balance i reckon. I dream of a proper aro comm (6 aros plus) lol
  10. yeah, its more the stock in it, the look of the stock. gravel is needed, but thats enough i reckon. nice combo with lots of aro and discus.

My one even spoke...... :slfg: 'Please pass the salt...' thank you im here all week.
  12. nothing, take a video and post on here, and tell us who it is with the permission of the mods... this is to keep these guys honest i must admit, i have seen some pretty irresponsible shops out there... not many but some. PM me who it is maybe? curious lol but yeah, just boycott that shop. video for proof, mods permission and we can all boycott.
  13. when angels are big, no problems there, just needs to wait a bit, also arowana stops to chase fish when theyar ein sheltered areas - and well fed. and mine is generally well fed lol so shouldnt be an issue. angels are quite fast too and slim so they fit into small gaps aro cant. aro get tired of chasing after a while when they realise they cant get them. so will wait untill angels are bigger, basically adults. then put them in with about 20 medium to medium/large clown loaches at the samt time, this will confuse the aro. also aro must be fully fed before intro. but yeah, gonna start putting the wood in the aro tank later on closer to when the angels are ready
  14. turning my red tank to a amazon type setting. Brown water, a school of peru altum angels 3x plecos, geo phagus tt eel, clown loaches and red aro isnt from amazon but hey, its ok, the setting will be:D got my IAL for black water, tested getting some from a website overseas if it gets through ok will get a steady supply. red aro likes black water more anyhow. one corner will be branches and twigs for shelter of the angels and resembles the river bank.
  15. i dont give them the chance to dig, so substrate is not deep enough. if you do the same, its fine, as long as they have somewhere to hide. a pvc pipe coated in silicone and dipped in gravel gives a natural tunnel look - or a half log. none of my eels get a chance to burrow. my big tt eel doesnt burrow, it really is the king of the tank though
  16. lol not risking the aro dont think ay lol the aro though 8is very territorial, more so than my other aros, anything that goes above the top 15 cms of the tank, it chases down and forces down. but no, not sure if i wanna risk that lol
  17. yes, as david advised, make sure you design it so they are unsubmerged, or else they will not be AS effective. but awesome stuff
  18. nice tank, good design, simple and very natural looking
  19. i dont know yet, i have 4, david has 2. my tank is heavier stocked and feed more... i installed socks saturday - seeing how many days, not sure yet, but so far so good, 4 days so far and not showing signs of needing cleaning. david told me to make sure they are above water as much as possible, his one isnt really. so i did that, my socks are only about 10 cms in the water the rest is not, so i believe the combo of out of the water and 4 socks will give me a good 2 weeks before clean. replacing i believe davids only replacing his now from the originalpurchase, he may be able to help more with that, but it hink you can use them for a long time, they are meant for that purpose. reusable. the clarity is osmething else, something my fx5 has never done.
  20. particle solutionz david recommended them as he used them for his set up, i merely copied that technique but it works extremely well! so excited:D so though i would share
  21. i just designed a sump and tower. INcorporated 4x 100micron filter socks, clarity has never been better! awesome! if you wanna make a sump, i suggest you somehow incorporate filter socks
  22. does anyone have feedback on this? curious, normal ones, gold and the red tail, do they all have differing characters?
  23. Fx5 is better value, and they really crank it, i have 3 and they are friggin awesome! powerful if you want movement in the tank for clown loaches - water flow, i sugges tyou get a small tiny power head
