  1. oh ok i dont care bout that, the water is never cloudy in my tanks, its osmething i really hate:D so, i decided that apart from my 2 stage sump tower trickle set up, i also have 3x fx5, 1x fluval 404, 1x fluval 4 internal:D so no matter how cloudy, its gone in 20 mins! oh yes! so if its raw, its ok, as long asi dont mindt he cloudiness from the liver?
  2. msot discus keepers overseas prefer the beefheart to be 50% of the food, then 40% pellets, 10% treat slike bloodworm and whiteworms. also fish tend to get beefed up wtih a combo of both i found with other types of fish. colour bits colour discus red. msot of my discus is not red you see, so i use hikari discus bio gold, very good, they also readily accept it compared toc olour bits.
  3. why cook the liver? any reason? if the BH doesnt matter, why the liver be cooked?
  4. sorry just clearing up do you advise to COOK the beef heart? i dont need to put liver unless liver has a special thing about it. cook the beef heart very quickly, like in boiling water? or just leave it raw? lets put it this way apart from cloudy water - what is bad about raw beef herat? i dont care, my fx5 clears it up in 20 mins lol no matter how dirty the food is, also auto changer is cranked up when i feed discus tucker:D just need to know - what is bad about completely raw beef cos really that smells nice for the fisha nd they love it right now i feed a almost fist size ball of beef heart to my bichirs, tt eel and fish in my rtg tank, no worries there
  5. fair enoug why si that? i was just looking into it, some do it. whats upw tih liver? soime say add vitamins what sort of vitamins do i add? peas also some said? raw shrimp also
  6. Please give me feed back. if im missing a point here, let me know. this is for medium juvis, smallish and adult discus all gonna eat this. i figure, this will fattena nd beef up large ones further. this will help smaller ones get bigger. im no expert on nutrition but let me know. recipe as follows: 500g Beef Heart (*All fat and sinue trimmed) 500Grams Beef Liver (Should i have a combo of both or just heart) 1/2 cup massivore pellets (blended to a powder) 2/4 cup discus bio gold (straight in. Massivore and bio gold will act as a binding agent) 100G Bloodworms 100g Mysis Shrimp Any veges i can pu tin or not bother? anything else?
  7. mine too, i got from a TM breeder, looks like ph burn or something and is not regrowing, or deformities. i also got a blue diamond very small. but that is why i have been very put off buying babies from breeders cos of the lies they feed ya. im frankly had it. i have purchased from two so called reputable breeders here - and on trademe and all have lied to me
  8. i had one. had one eye only. rtg ate it lol kidna annoying!
  9. well that answers myq ustion:D no worries lol no, i opting to get a already large anubias. getting the two types, nana and startign wtih B already in the lfs, waited af ew weeks but hey - this takes time i guess. why can you give plants massivore?!?!
  10. ok, i am considering upgradin to LED lights, to save power. the units cost may pay for itself in a year or so. anyone nkow where to get them? also do theyhave led bulbs that are programmed to enhance reds and certain colours like power and aqua glo or are they jsut generic white? if you can let me nkow who sells them thanks
  11. yeah, eggs are gone, eaten yeah, i put food mainly at the centre of the tank. good idea i will try spreading the food out so they get even feeding grounds i find that the alpha male, is kinda protecting the middle feeding ground. though they all get food, they are fed with auto feeder during the day. all of them look fat and satisfied lol
  12. haha yes discus is fantastic though. its different to mosnter fish! the way they eat and stuff. behaviour, fascinating! i really want a big school so far i have 14, wanna go for 20+ slowly but surely when good strains come up
  13. how much less will theye at? say the full grow ones, compared to smaller ones? 50% less or 80% less? well, the tank has plants, no one discus is picke don, its like a frenzy lol so its kinda even:D but the biggest male, the giant cobalt seems to be not the top dog, weird, usually biggest is the dominant right?
  14. yes, when they are bigger, they are more stable i find. maybe they are more confident and stronger perhaps?
  15. long time:D some people claim to have TT eels living longer than 10 years or more
  16. dats "stability" is a argued thing. some say that stable dats are not always happy. soemtimes when attacking prey or each other, they will go 'stable' my dats are stable 75% of the time. when feeding 100% of the time. when chasing another fish or defending its territory, stable too. to forcefully make the dats colour stable could probably more harmfull than its worth IMO. some dats are naturally unstable for camouflage. in fact, when hiding, they are unstable naturally..... most likely a natural adaptation. i dont believe a happy dat is always table.
  17. when i go in there and there is no food,t heya ll sit around, peacefully. but funny is when i feed, the males chase each other around. then they dont get to eat as much as the medium to smaller ones cos they so busy chasing at times no major harassment but just a bit of aggression. also, i found that the two females that just spawned couple days back, is agro towards even other males, event he biggest ones. are discus in a constant state of agro?
  18. has anyone used thsi food?
  19. oh ok. so itts like colour bits, some float, bout 10% what % if you just put a tsp in the water, what % you say would sink immediately, and what % would float then sink?
  20. haha, trying to sell me them huh? considered it. but 3 is too many
  21. no, i dont believe so, i dont think anything is eating it. pink tails dont eat plants, very carnivorous. ill put ferts then - wow the flowers grow fast
  22. ok, i need a fish, that doesnt get offensively big. not agro that will live with my discus and black aro that will be active at night or day to suck up left over food and chewed up food by the discus. 1x geo and 5x small clown loaches jsut doesnt cut it. any ideas? was thinking synos, but they get huge. corys may get eaten.
  23. i took the plunge. shrimp tends to be low protein and so i decided to buys ome fd silkworm pupa. so i feed shrimp, then pupa. i can also try stuffing the pupa by cutting one end wtih massivore to add extra hikariness 8) anyone else used this silkworm before? im looking forward to it! im weird i know
  24. my discus eat discus bio gold 3 times during the day. also auto feeder puts floating c gold for the pink tail chalceus, whcih some of them eat. im after sinking stuff due to current of water, i prefer to have them feed centre, front of the tank, for viewing:D i was thinking of getting discus tucker - i heard that discus tucker can contribute to bloat? raw meat food i mean. i used to feed it in the past and had oen bloat, but some attribute that to raw meaty food like discus tucker type stuff. any thoughts? i was thinking of feeding discus tucker every other day as well as its pellets. they love fresh meaty stuff i know.
