  6. Hi Everyone I've just been looking at my community tank trying to figure out whats "wrong" with it. (all heathly not that kind of wrong) And I've come to the conclusion its lacking some larger colourful fish, the largest in there right now is a male Peral Gourami along with guppies ,swordtails and Danio's, anyone have any good ideas what fish would go with these tankmates but add some size ? Thanks in advance
  7. Hi Everyone Seems something must be going right , i got up this morning to find our female swordtail had fry, 9 so far I think thats all we'll get. I've put them in the fry tank along with the guppy fry only 10 days old , i can't think why that would be a problem , is that ok ?
  8. Hi Ballistic Great news with the Angels , i know just how excited you feel were now up to 22 guppy fry ( not the same league i know ) so good for you
  9. Hi Everyone I just wanted to ask: A pair of neon swordtails i have just lately are showing 3 or 4 dark vertical bars on there sides, The female i'm pretty sure is pregnent due to an enlarged gravid spot and a slowly growing tummy. I'm thinking the bars are a "i'm ready to mate" sign , am i right or completely off the mark ? Thanks
  10. Hi Guys , i've not been ignoring your replays I've been away in Auckland for a week training but thanks for the replys livebreeder, not thought about TRYing to breed for him but i have just had two more batches of fry from his tank so maybe he has just breed fry. I'll let you know as soon as they show through. not really interested in selling but maybe you can just borrow him or something , a stud guppy lol
  11. Hi Everyone Being new I just need to as a question, I've set up a tank to receive some Guppy fry shortly , this will be my second batch, I lost the first so I’m following some very helpful advice this time. I’ve set it up with no filter, a heater set to 25 degree's and a air stone for water correct and oxygenation, my question is even though half the water came from the parents tank do I need some adult fish in this tank to help cycle it BEFORE I put fry in it (I know I'll have to move it then) or is it just ok as is?
  12. Hi Kim, if you think getting them to stand still is hard you want to try making them smile for the camera !! almost impossable ...lol

  17. Hi Everyone I'm new so this might be a silly question but, Do i need to do a water change , its a new 55 gallon tank just cycleing with 3 peral Gouramis in it. All the things i have read says do a water change weekly but i've just tested the water and everything tests good. PH = 7.4 ( consistant) Ammonia = 0ppm Nitrate = 0ppm Nitrite 0ppm should i just leave it for now ?
  18. Hi everyone Could someone please help ? I belive I have a couple of pregnant guppys and this is a first for us so we're not sure when to expect fry and when we should put the moms in a breeding trap as there are other fish in with the moms. some idea would be great , Thanks http://groups.msn.com/billaneyphotos/fi ... &PhotoID=7 heres a link to a picture taken yeterday

    Hi Everyone

Hi Pillz I'm in Wainuiomata, near Wellington
  21. thank for the assistance , its just confuseing , i did find tank in the Paraparaumu pet shop that just had a bowed front but was about the same size, the guy in there said it was a 55 gallon tank so i'll just go with that  guess it my fault for being differant and not getting a standard shape
  22. I'm not sure i can discribe it better than a triangle with the pointy corners cut off, and they leave a bevele that messures 20cm, i have a picture but its not hosted anywhere so i can't attach it to the post.
  23. Hi Is there some formula for working out the size ( gallons or litres) of a corner triangular tank? its 65 cm by 65cm by 86cm with 3 x 20cm beveals to each corner. I think its about a 55 gallon/210l but I'm not sure and it sure would be handy to know for stocking and treating etc. thanks

    Hi Everyone

Hi My wife and I are very new to tropical fish but like to think of ourselves as enthusiastic novices, we have been going only 5 weeks and so far got 3 tanks, 2 x 10gallon tanks with our fish in so far which we hope will become our quarantine and breeding tanks and a new 55 gallon tank that’s cycling at the moment with just 3 pearl gourami’s in it We are enjoying the fish heaps but I must admit to finding the waiting the hardest thing (but I’m trying ...lol). All your posts and articles are a great help and in time I look forward to helping others from my own experience. Paul & Adele
