  1. I find this interesting....I have seen people leave razor blades in there tank. I personally have a rusty circlip holding one of my hoses on to a pump in my sump as we speak. I dont seem to be expoeriencing any problems and in fact have a couple of Chimeras corals which are repairing and are colouring up. I dont think rust would be the issue, but maybe it has another alloy in the bearing. How rusty is this bearing?
  2. Assists with Sulphate depletion. Not worth worrying about IMO. You dont need to worry about it if you do large water changes. Hows the levels?
  3. Should have said Ca Chloride, not Ca. Sorry. I presume you run Ca Chloride and not hydroxide....
  4. Best way to test this situation is to do the following. 1: Take a test reading of alk 2: Take a test reading of MG 3: Take a test reading of Ca If all low then add the following directly to the overflow: 4: Add 2 x baking cups of straight MG chloride 5: Wait one hour and add 6 tablespoons of BS 6: Wait one hour and add 2 x baking cups Ca. (All straight down the overflow as raw powder) RE TEST 36 HOURS LATER AND POST RESULTS. Should raise ALK by about 4 Should raise Ca by about 60 Should raise MG by about 60 If it hasnt changed to aroung these levels, then your test kits have to be faulty.
  5. Ikg per week BS....holy moly, something is wrong there dude. I know you have a big tank, but that is a lot. I have hundreds of corals most SPS and only consume 8 Tablespoons a week. Are you running corals or frags in your sump systems?
  6. Double check you havent got a leak somewhere and the tank is being topped off with topup supply removing the mag etc from the tank. Check your Salinity dude. 1kg of ALK is shitloads too, sounds like a leak perhaps.
  7. I ve still got both my peppermints and they,ve given up on the whole making love thing....I still have no idea what the bloody thing was doing!!!

    Sixline Wrasse

    Hows ya frags girl??
  9. True, but it depends on the cleanliness of the column.
  10. The bubbles get bigger only when the water column has lots of garbage in it. When the column is clean the bubbles reduce again.
  11. Bubble size only gets bigger when the system is adjusting to them. Once they have adjusted you can turn the taps on full as the system is clean.
  12. Very strange, must me more to it than that..... Not good.

    Reefs Reef Tank

Reactors have there place. I dont use one because reactors cant keep up with heavy demanding corals. You would have to manually adjust oftyen anyway with one of the main chemicals. If I couold get a fully auto reactor that guaranteed levels I would definitely use one.

    Reefs Reef Tank

Is it KH buffer or BS??? If its buffer, then it shows you half of it must be placebo to bulk it up....more money for them to make....

  21. Im pretty confident it was the carbon that bleached them.
  22. Vodka is a very good tool IMO. As you can see it has its purposes for temporary tank cleaning and if used permanently should be dosed sparingly. I swear by it.
  23. couldnt have said that better if i'd have tried!!! nice one WASP!!
