Thanks Afrikan, i did (and always do) read up about their care and requirements before i got them, so i could have a suitable tank ready. Just was a bit foggy on some of the bits and bobs (pronounciation of 'cichlid', and was 99.9% sure they were african, but internet sites sometimes contradict each other ) The information i'm after is more in relation to my options with housing them when they're older - what i can display them with, etc, as well as anything i can learn from other forum member's experiences. Looking out for the future Thanks for your concern though

Wahooooo.... Someone (you know who you are!!! ) decided to fuel my obsession and give me some itsy-bitsy baby electric yellow cichlids. They're doing well, but it's a whole different ball game for me, so any advice would be fantastic!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: There are 6 - how big do they get, and what size tank will they need when they're adults? And what other cichlids, or other fish, can go with them? I will be wanting them to have my second big display tank, so some other fish would be nice. They are africans, correct? And we do not mix african and american, ya? Can we mix different types of african (i hear they come from 3 main areas, according to google) And how the %$#@ am i supposed to pronounce "cichlid"? They were in a smaller tank with nothing to hide in except the fine gravel, but didn't seem happy, so i put them in the community tank. They sat in a corner for a few hours then disappeared. Haven't seen them since... But then, i have a big bit of wood in the middle of tank, so they could be frolicking away for all i know - just not at the front of the tank :lol:

Well, tried to put the two filters together and no luck - just no space in the back for the pipes to come through and loop around to join on while the wet/dry is there. Took out the wet/dry and installed the CF-1000 according to instruction. Not working - have filled the canister with tank water but it's not getting into gear.... what have i done? Small leak from valve on outlet tap, hopefully not cracked. Gah!!!

They're in the community tank, which has an Aqua-One CF1000. Have put netting over the intake pipe so they don't shimmy up that and get ouchied

Wow, nice timing - i have the same leak from the outlet tap of my CF1000, pretty sure it's coming from the valve too. Will check tonight for a crack...

Hey Mystic, did anyone bring you home any mollies? I'm still pretty scaredy about it - couldn't feed tadpoles, too much association with fun times as a kiddy. I'm trying to get over it, but if he doesn't put more effort in i won't really have to

Yeah, i was rather squeamish about it, but it's good for him, so i threw some in... :-? He went for them at first, but now he's in the bigger tank he's not bothering any more - will start after them then lose interest. They're too fast for him unless he bails them up. I still have to watch between my fingers.... :oops:

Maybe wild mollies like Sandringham water :-? You can come fill up from my tap Wok 8)

That's weird.... Maybe they don't like being looked after well If that's the case, my turtle tank mollies should live to a ripe old age

Hmmm... my mollies are still in the bucket, no heater, and have had no deaths yet. I got a heater sorted after the one ready for them broke, but as they're doing ok i'm not in a big rush to change things. Have also added water to the bucket. Oh, i tell a lie - some mollies have moved house to the turtle tank, and i'm sure he's managed to catch at least one.
