    New tank

My Aqua One CF-1000 canister has arrived, but how the *bleep* do i get it to fit in the Jebo? OMG it's a mission..... Do I have to take the hood filter out? ljtan55, help!!!! Anyone, help!!!!!!!!
  3. Whoa. The filter fairy has visited, bearing proof that i have descended beyond the realms of a casual hobby. It's huge. I thought i'd be getting something small but effective, and i suppose i should be glad, what with what i paid for it. But...... whoa. And there are all these pipes and thinga-ma-jigs. Once again, whoa. Maybe the cabinet goes inside the filter? Seems logical... *dives for instruction manual*
  4. A friend of mine and I are going. Don't worry evil, you've been nice to me so i'll make sure no one preys upon you in yur delicate post-party state
  5. I'm gonna be there, if nothing unexpected crops up... Oooh, my first meeting!! Fun!! :bounce:
  6. Welcome Fluffypants!!! Love the name!!
  7. Yeah they seem happy enough, but i've never noticed it before... Maybe they can multiply by mitosis, and the fins split first
  8. Lol!!! They got you!!! Welcome to the club  When mine did that, they lay upside down, and bobbed around a bit in the current!!
  9. Hi, some of my lace gourami seem to have split their pectoral fins (long thing "feeler" looking things). I have never noticed before (am sure i would have), and my mum pointed it out this afternoon. There are a few with a split/double fin on one side, and maybe one with split/double fins on both sides. Do some grow more than one pectoral fin on one/each side (and somehow i managed not to notice), or is it likely that their fins have split? They don't look damaged, but the "double" fins seem slimmer than the single ones, so i think it is a case of the fin splitting. If so, what causes this? Should I be worried? Anyone that could help shed some light would be much appreciated. Gatito/Jo
  10. lol he'll get used to it. My man hasn't joined in the frenzy, but he likes the fish more, and is more interested since my tank got big and pretty. Good fish for capturing the interest of partners are clown loaches (though you need a group of them for them to be happy), as they're funny little monsters, and pretty. Mine also liked my bristlenose catfish (also, they clean up the tank, and don't get too big). Siamese fighting fish are hardy, pretty and interesting - a male each tank that allows them is an essential for me (but then i started out in tropicals by keeping bettas/siamese fighters)
  11. Welcome to the forum ashbo!!! :bounce:
  12. Oh awesome, someone told me it was brackish water there. great, that's one less thing to worry about
  13. PFFT!! *claps hand over mouth* I'm sorry about your clams raeh1 - not sure why, have you tested your water etc?
  14. That's a good point - what will they eat once they come home? Oooh, i have another question.... how long does it take to get them used to fresh water? Do i just bring back enough of their swamp water to bang into a tank, and then do water changes with freshwater? Would 10% freshwater water changes be ok for them? Graddduuuaallllyyyy change the water from brackish. Or is there a better way?
  15. Thanks Jim, but i'm driving up on sunday morning so may not get there by 9am. Will try and be there, but probably not. Thanks for the Tumonz live link - Wises maps were getting all confused, but on Tumonz i found the place where the 'water crosses the SH', so we'll just head there and ask around for wherever we all end up meeting.
  16. How long does it usually go on for on the day?
  17. Lol yes!!! We can sneak over on sat night and bag some, then when they approach us on sunday saying how much they're worth and that we have to pay Koha, we present them with the bags and a big smile
  18. Oh bugger, i'm sorry for your losses MRSkz. We're all guilty of getting complacent once in a while, it's such a shame when someone learns the hard way
  19. Awwwww..... he's a cutie!!!! I love small eels, the big ones are ok so long as they can't get in my gumboots/eat me  When I was a kid, our goldfish pond at home ran out of goldfish, so next time we were at my grandparents i went eeling and snuck a few home, and put them in the pond. Didn't know at that age that they could get out - they took off, one got eaten by a dog and the other two got caught and taken back to the creek. Is your eel quite friendly?
  20. I'm a bit late on this but my bettas LOVE brine shrimp!!! I'd get them in a syringe and let a drop hand from the end, and they'd be so keen that they'd jump up and *CHOMP* the whole drop!!!
  21. I love the white ones with blue fins in the first pic, will definitely have to sort out my schedule and pay you a visit sometime 8)
  22. They can offer us a beer in thanks of the gift that we gave them
