  1. Wow. I have no idea, but a hot-pink fish? So long as they're healthy, that's about as cool as Jem and The Holograms!!!
  2. What are those plants? Are they real? they look like big fat jungle vines... ooohh, i want one to climb down/up one corner of my tank....
  3. Whoops sorry!!! i mean www.imageshack.us - they give you the links for your pics to show up on your posts - though maybe photobucket does it too.... Photobucket lets you create an online album for others, like mine - see the link at the bottom of this post - lots of us have album links like this in our signatures. Silly Jo - must be monday mode...
  4. Could it be that the log is decomposing and this is providing the "food" for the fuzz? Kind of like rotting flake or other matter gets the mould/fuzz? I'm not sure, but thought i'd put the idea forward
  5. Lol, i couldn't see anything at first - is it that grayish fuzz or am i going senile at the ripe age of 21???
  6. Yeah, they're little sweeties - i fell hard for them from a photo, and now they're my wee darlings.
  7. I have lace/pearl gourami with bettas no problem They get to an ok size too, and they can mix with other varieties of dwarf gourami nicely.
  8. You can use www.photobucket.com Just register, and they let you upload pics, and give you a link to put in a forum post so that the pic shows up
  9. Hey meesheelly, i found these, in case they're what youre looking for http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 187461.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 187490.htm
  10. Lol yes me too, i remember thinking my tank was slowwwllyy cracking somewhere, but i had just gotten my clowns so i watched them instead, and realised
  11. Lol it reminds me of when i was a fry... ummm, i mean bubba... i mean child, yes that's it. Used to dive straight into the ocean and swim til i got used to the cold. Nowadays, if i go ankle-deep and it's a bit cold, i chicken out and go sunbathe (or to a heated pool) instead. Same theory?
  12. oooh, off on a tangent.... What about killifish? They're very pretty, and there's a guy selling them on trademe, and they sound suitable. (sigh) yet another something i know nothing about
  13. Aha Fantastic, so it is nice and easy. Thanks Billaney!!!
  14. Hi guys, i've been looking on the net for how to sex rosy tetras, and i think it's going to be easy, but i need some clarification. The general advice is that the males are more colourful, with longer finnage, and are also smaller/more slender, while females are more rounded. I have 10 rosies, and about half of them have white tips on their fins, and half have black fins. Is this white what is meant by 'more colourful'? Because the fins that are fully black seem to be longer than those with white. Can someone help clear this up? I have pics of the rosies, and the difference in their fins, in my photobucket album (see link below) o o o o o o <}}}><(
  15. He's very pretty Gannet - loving those colours
  16. So the loach didn't keep up, or was he removed once the job was done? If so, maybe keep him in there - i don't notice any snails in my new tank since the clowns were added

    New tank

Awesome, i'll go for that.... thanks

    New tank

So the canister filter... that can sit in the cabinet and do it's thing can't it? I haven't used a cannister before, so been looking on TM auctions for descriptions of how they work.... I'm looking at an Aqua One CF1000 (they say it does up to 250 litres), and hopefully the instructions (which are hopefully all i'll need) will be on the box? If i get the CF1200 (up to 300 litres), will it do a better job? Or should i just get the CF1000?
  19. The mental images.... oh dear...
  20. Yay. How big is he? I can't remember seing captive bred cray, but there's a stream out near my mum's place that is PACKED with them in summer. Used to go down and sit and wait for them to forget i was there so i could watch.
  21. Lol, my biggest BN is roughly 6cm long (the other 3 are between 3 and 5cm, so this one's the greedy hog). I was watching him do his thing, and saw what looked like a bit of skin, like he'd been cut (or like a big hangnail on his head  ). It's his first bristle!!! They grow up so fast...
  22. Mr Blue Ram, how about a snail trap? I don't think they're very expensive, and apparently they're very effective. I hate little baby snails, they come in on plants and before you know it... BAM!!!!! billions of the buggers. It makes me love my clown loaches so much more
  23. Awesome, i think i'll have a look around then. Whew! Just found out their adult size - should make a nice addition to the tank, but i'll definitely only get a pair. Or maybe a pair of angels instead? Though i think i remember being told they're meant to be nippy with fins, so probably not good with the gourami and male betta. Will take a while to find a nice young adult pair of kribs, so will have to have a ponder.....
  24. Wow, nice job on the pics Billaney, those fins are gorgeous
