  1. sales talk, tell them what they want to hear?
  2. you show me yours,i`ll show you mine??
  3. i have used vermiculite and the sand i mentioned, both worked but i had better results with the sand.i know others who have the opposite result so what ever works for you ,once you find it ,good luck.
  4. dirt no good, use coarse sand or pumice sand .dampen it and give it a good zap in the microwave. Then you will be starting with sterile medium.Use cooled boiled water to moisten it with if you need to.Dirt will have mega bacteria and other nasties.
  5. nah,i had pairs and they used to spend all day doing the wild thing(in a grasshopper like way)
  6. as long as your medium was at the right moisture levels when you covered it with gladwrap should be good for the length of incubation.replace your egg laying cups at least once a week regardless if they have been laid in or not.Quite warm in there so they do dry out fast.
  7. don`t you mean mating?breeding would be after the eggs hatch.if they lay any
  8. quite on here!!everyone must be hibernating as well as their reps??
  9. we used to call then drones as kids ,some maybe.most of them are just bot flys.
  10. where there is life there is hope?I would be more inclined to try and do what you can for it and learn from the experience that you can pass on to others?if it is not in pain and you can get it to the stage of eating for itself and get some sun on his back, could be surprising how it responds?I am a bit soft when it comes to putting things down, depends how much time you have?
  11. don`t know abouty leaving but would suggest staying on with a goal of going to university and doing a zoolology degree?others will be more up with the play.i think LA`s son(one of them)maybe going down this track?
  12. mollies suck, they always look sweet in the shops and more often than not come out of brackish water.they can live in fresh for a while but more often than not will get the `shimmies`and get skinny as in no time.Interestingly if you put them back from fresh water to salty water the `shimmies`will stop straight away.
  13. hey phoenix,I think you missed `charlotte`s web` off your list?
  14. cricketman, try a bit of persimmon wood if you can find some.Apparently related to mahogahy and very hard, has been used for making golf clubs.
  15. again?what this time,enclosure for your chameleons?
  16. the pub where-ever it was?,that was selling drinks with a live goldfish that was swallowed along with the drink.
  17. thats what i meant, they were the ones that did rush to buy??
  18. what is going on with all the leopard gecko sales I have been seeing lately? I have seen at least 4 or even 5 prospective breeding groups hit the market in the last few weeks.Perhaps they know something we all don`t?seems strange to pay good dollars to set yourself up in the breeding bussieness and then bail out a few months later?
  19. spoken like a true foreigner?
  20. its the old story of closing the stable door long after the horse has bolted? look on the bright side it will give the cats something else to chase and maybe spare the life of a native.
  21. I doubt it.Where to next?Tuataras?Even some of the `common` species are not gauranteed to remain that way.
  22. I find it disconcerting that DOC should encourage 12 yr old boys to build 10 reptile enclosures and issue permits for same?Nothing against 12yr olds getting into the hobby, but we have to start somewhere and should be prepared to learn as we go and increase the numbers of species as our competence and experience grows. I take it you know you can`t get your reptiles from the wild, permit or not and are limited to what you can swap or beg from other licenced keepers?
