    best new toy

yes, mines a piece of junk, both of them, waiting for a nice simple aquamedic float type one.
  2. Thankyou very much Chimera, My pink monti is looking very nice at the moment, not washed out and bleached.
  3. give up Pies, you can't win against Layton

he's run out, bad stock keeping
  5. The trouble with you Layton, is that you state your opinions as fact. What experience, training, degrees, (massive ego maybe) do you have that makes your way the correct way, and every other way wrong. refugiums are wrong, calcium reactors are wrong, sand is wrong, zeovits wrong.......... Laytons ways right
  6. what ever layton. Theres a whole lot of aquarists out there that dont agree.
  7. So if it doesn't make any difference in water quality, is better at buffering Ca, Mg, etc, and provides excellent food for your tank, wheres the argument???
  8. My one comes racing out when I feed the fish, during the day. Have mysteriously lost a manderin though
  9. you can find them at the Poor knights Islands
  10. Deltec are great skimmers, load of bull that people get them to be in some sort of club  , people get them because they work extremely well, and yes i've had other skimmers.
  11. um, what do you think Reef, redsea vs Deltec.
  12. have you tried the mirror thing, worked for me several times, lately when the lamarck and the yellow tang decided to take the longnose butterfly apart. 2 days of flashing them selves in front of the mirror took all the fight out of them.
  13. Yep, good to hear. The biggest difference in my tank was getting the Ca/Mg/Alk levels right and stable. I think thats what your've done.
  14. you also need to take the bulb life and replacement costs into the equation Feelers
  15. ouch, painful sarcasm from the wasp
  16. and his refugium looks just like mine
  17. yep, saw that in the 8/2006 file, but they are MH in the photos originally posted on the zeo site.
  18. the T5s are hanging off a MH unit, look at the 3 square reflections on the light fitting, 2 rows of T5s would never light a tank like that. Look at his web site and you'll see the light fitting before he mounted the T5s on it.
  19. I think there are 3 MH between those T5s :-?
  20. skippy... Steve Weast (i guess he posts on this board so one of us )
  21. use a glass sheild to cut down UV.
  22. come on wasp, could have given us the conclusions so we didn't have to read it all. No mention of DE or SE though.
  23. Like I said, I don't think there is a right or wrong way. Stick to what works for you. I would rather run a bb tank with a sand bed in a ref with lots of critters, as I do now, and believe the benefits out way the negatives. I don't believe it is increasing my bioload substantially and don't limit corals or fish in my display because of it. You may want to breed live food externally, run remote DSBs, larger sumps etc to get the same benefits. I'm sure your new tank will be a success as well. I seen a number of tanks up here in Auckland all running differnt systems and theories, e.g. Crackers tank. I run a very different sort of tank to Craigs but we both have very good results.
