  1. There are lots of little ledges up that LHS tower, so you don't need corals on top of it. Had another look today and a chat with Dave, and I think it looks really good. Told him it must have been one of the young fellas that made it as it was far too imaginative for an old bugger like him  He was amused, to say the least, that it was creating a reaction on this site. Would make a nice sps tank  Liked his sump. Need something like that when i upgrade. He is not going to have a angel tank, or any fish only display tank, changed his mind. He's got something else in mind for display.
  2. you've been upgrading for years your not running zeovit are you.
  3. ain't that the truth
  4. careful with that stuff, Skippy. It seems to me to be a product that can work well but requires alot of work, alot of expense, and seems to me personally to be unnecessary. It's not just a few additives, it's a whole different way of running a reef tank. No offence to zeo fans.
  5. let me know if your passing, got a nice little frag off my green stag you could pry out of me
  6. page 2 and 3 Skippy....
  7. Looks like my new tank for Kerikeri Skippy seriously though, with his sort of disposable income, I would have done alot better aquascaping.
  8. thanks for the pointer Layton, picked up a 25kg bag of food grade lime today from APS. Sure beats $98 for a kilo at Hollywood.
  9. sure makes it easy without the front on, saw it last week, and does look very good, hope he backs up the aquascaping with good stock. Don't think I'd be confident enough on my next big tank to leave the front off.
  10. sneek around and drain someones outside sump
  11. wow , very nice, how long has the tank been running.
  12. Already have 10kg of magnesium chloride and 10kg of calcium chloride that I use to boost both of these monthly.
  13. no thanks layton, I'll stick to the reactor, too easy. by adjusting bubble and drip rates, got the Kh up nicely to over 9 but its just lowered the ph a bit so Kalk in the make-up water, or a kalk reactor seems a good compromise. And with the amount I top up daily, evaporation rate will not be a limiting factor. Can't argue with my results.
  14. Thanks reef, Acros are doing very well. Growth has picked up noticably since changing the lights, although it was pretty good before hand. because of this growth and I guess larger corals, struggling to keep up with alkalinity at the moment, even with reactor cranked right up. Also Ph is down to about 8.0 with CO2 bubble rate quite high. Need to start using kalk. Whats the best way to get hold of some kalk (lime) for aquarium use. Would like a kalk stirrer as well, but differcult as I'm not using mains water pressure in the shed. I'd like to incorporate a kalk stirrer/auto top off directly from my RoDi unit in the new fishroom
  15. just beginning to lately, acros seem to mingle together ok, but got a hairy green stag acro fighting with a pocillapora, not sure who is winning yet, one branch of the acro is loosing, another seems to be winning.
  16. I was taking some photos of 10 new frags i have been lucky enough to come by recently, and took these nice ones of the tank. Hope you like them.
  17. Scribbled Rabbitfish, Siganus doliatus, is a lovely fish, and yes, a glutten.

sorry top hear Fay. but good to have you back, the site has been a bit slow lately
  20. I am so looking forward to this part of the shift - designing new tank, tank room, sump arrangements etc. House going on the market Oct. Noticed another couple of interesting properties Skippy, but still may build. (The access road place is still on the market, and dropping in price)
  21. .....and then simply siphon them out off your bare bottom
