  4. Welcome Pippin You got a really nice tank to start with there! A CF2700 or a FX5 are good external filter for tank size at 450L. Coral sand plus some rocks is my favorite setup. Malawi fish that doesnt get too big, generally you are looking at Mbuna cichlids. Electric yellows, demasoni, zebras cichlids, ice blue, some nice peacocks and more. For your tank size I wouldnt worry too much if you start with young cichlids. You can put in some nice haps as well. Depends whats available around in NZ and good luck on your new tank setup.   12. I got them off from a guy in mt Roskill long time ago. I will see what they look like when full grow. At the end of the day, they are good looking hybrid :thup:
  13. Eye biter?...No way... My guess would be mixed with red Kadango. Anyway... It is hybrid. What a shame waste all my effort :an!gry I think I just gona buy an adult male at some stage.

  16. Hi Guys, Anyone can ID below fish? I raise a dozen of these since fry. I was told they are "Red Empress" Now one and half years later young adult about 10cm including tail as below. Most recently I lost patience :evil: for waiting coloring up... start questioning whether they are red empress.... :facepalm: As most adult red empress should looks like something below?   18. I got a very aggressive adult yellow in the tank at moment... He was keep hassling other bigger fish around. He lost one eye. He should learn something otherwise will be soon terminated by either giraffe or frontosa But since I re-ranged tank. All fishes seems to settle down a bit. No doubt alpha fontosa is the boss : )
