  1. Circling and locking lips is a sign of fighting for dominant position in the group to me. They are likely both males or both females. If one shimmying or shaking of the fins and tail then circling with other. It is the sign of mating and breeding. Cheers
  2. Still available. Got some other African cichilds for sell too. Welcome to view. 0220840109. Cheers
  3. Free to good home. Fat solid body. Very healthy. But one white color eye due to fight. Pick up west auckland. Pm if interested.
  4. GLO Fluorescent Ballast twin light with reflectors 1.2m Two light bulb. One life-GLO 54w white and one blue marine. Quick sale $90 Contact 0220840109. Cheers Jack
  5. It is a hybrid unfortunately. Cant tell exactly what cross but I can see it has socolofi powder blue genes in there.
  6. Albino dragonblood it is.
  7. Footprint size is very important for african cichlids. But sometimes you can get away by putting a LOT of rocks in your tank. So it creates a LOT of hiding places. 300L is not a bad size. Just make sure a lot of hiding place in your tank. I would go more than 10 dems... Actually I would suggest to have 15 + or even 20. The more the better and happier the dems. Cheers
  8. I have large dogtooth male and Demasoni male in the same tank. They dont fight each other. But I do have a lot of other fish. 20+ others. So tank size is pretty important. Overstocking sometimes is the good way to avoid aggressive too. For your tank size I wont worry too much. If you have 10+ other Cichlids around the same size then perfect. Just be in mind when you get demasoni. Get 1 or get more than a dozen. They would busy chasing their own kind and barely look at dogtooth. Good luck.
  9. Beautiful fish!!! Nice man!
  10. He sold a lot of good quality electric blue on trademe. His name is Jason and use to live in Hillsborough area. I lost his phone contact on recent phone changes. But good luck on finding him.
  11. 90x40x45 is a bit small for Yellows and Dems. But you may get around it by raise them from fry together. And keep decent number in each group especially for dems at least 12. Heaps hiding places, rocks, caves ect... I cannot see anything else are better then yellow and dems for your setup at moment consider your tanks size and your requirement for colors. May be single species of Kribs or Neolamprologus brichardi also an option. Good luck
  12. Yellow and Dems would be the perfect combination for your requirements.
  13. Awesome looking tank! Two sides viewing is great!
  14. The light looks nice. I am sure it will light up the color of Cichlids
  15. Thanks rcon. Learned. :gpo2:
  16. Yeah.. Thats why I thought the dorsal fins is more close to red empress or red kadango type. But the current body color is quite close to Lemon Jack or Jacobfreibergi Undu Reef. Hard to tell for now...
  17. The body color looks close to Lemon Jake. The top fin looks like red empress. I would say give it a bit more time to show more color.
  18. After years of African cichlids keeping I had enough bad experience on "grow and find out" - bad quality fish and hybrid situation. I would say only buying from reputable breeder from this forum be careful when buying from trademe. :sage:
  19. I dont mind nice looking Hybrid like Dragonblood and OBs. I think the key is they have to look cool. :dnc1: Otherwise it would be terrible disaster and need to be through into the fry pans. :lar:
  20. Nice fish! Nice dragon blood : )
  21. Thanks man. Filter cleaned and 50% wc weekend. It seems ok now. Finger cross...
  22. I feed my grow out tank twice a day, morning and night. I feed my display tank adults every second day but some times every day. It depends on if they shake their tail like dogs so I know they want feed... It works out quite good.
  23. :tears: Thanks man. My other fish are fine when I left home this morning... My tank when not fill to the top is about 700L. I normally do 50% ~ 60% wc every second weekend. This works well in the past two years. But by saying that could be waste in the water, I havent clean my FX5 for about 8 months now... As I have wave maker and FX5 output combination to direct all the waste to the input nozzle. Not much waste you can see in the tank at moment. But yeah could be the BIO filtering in FX5 need a bit refresh and clean. I will do a water change tomorrow and clean my FX5. I lost two J.regani this week from the grow out tank too. I guess this week just one of those days...I need to move them into a bigger tank. But too many things going on just no time to re-range these.
