Hi Guys, I got four peacocks in the same tank. Three of them are adult and one of them are about to grow to the adult size. Two of them are really bossy and fighting all the time. They all have very nice color on but not the young one. He only show abit color reflect the light in certain angle... The young one grown up under big boss's shadow..... I think he is afraid to show color? and get beatten up? So if I move him into another tank just himself only one peacock, will he show up color soon? He is a bout 7CM. TA

Thanks obstacle and Ryan, I know resilicon the whole tank is a big job, I try to avoid that... The glass is 12mm on 4 sides and bottom but 10mm at the top. there is no center brace with the tank at moment. I need get one myself and silicon it on. I think once the tank is delivered I will take a close look then fill it up full leave it for few weeks... According to the seller the tank is custom made by greg 5 years ago. It has dual overflow at the top two coner at the back glass panel. I am still thinking should I use a sump or just seal those two holes and put background on it and use FX5 instead.... any idea? :dunno:

you got me here "what exactly do you want to reinforce?"... Im not sure to be honest... Basiclly just dont want this tank leaks with my full stock in the near future. I will wait for some expert advice maybe... should I or should not re silicon the whole tank.... :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm:

hahaha...you r right duncan...that is the one. how do you know Did you go there and had a look at the tank as well? .... I remesure the tank and it is 1650 X 750 X 750...So it is about 900L.... :rotf: But lots of work need to be done before I silicon a glass brace in the middle in order to put a lid on later on.... I need to get my nice poly background made and silicon in the back of the tank first. Most important to make sure the tank is not leaking!!! So....anyone? Who knows how to reinforce the tank easily?.... What you do with seams? do you cut the old silicon and redo the whole tank glass or just put extra silicon at seams? :digH: :digH: :digH: :digH:

Hi Guys, I just got a 900L tank. It has been use as marine tank for 5 years by previous owner with no problem. No leak at all according to previous owner. I am going to use it as my malawi cichlids display tank. Now it is empty and I am going to give it a good clean and fill it out with 20 % water to see if it leaks or not. The chances are low. As I can see the tank is in a good condition. Then make a good poly background and silicon it on to the back of the tank. So if I fill the water up again to 100% and wait for a few days and still no leak. Do I need to redo tank silicon and reiforce the tank? Coz that is a lot of work.... I try to avoild that. Is there some other way to test and see if the current tank and silicon is in good condition still? And it still can last for long time? So normally how long we need to reinforce the tank again after use? Thanks guys.

Thanks Ryan, For my first FX5. I put pot scrubber at the bottom of tray to stop media drop into impeller + bioballs on top of it. I have this setting on two bottom trays. top tray with fluval pre filter media. I google it and get the idea with pot scrubber....they have massive surface area and cheap... But for my second FX5. I want to put in something like bio noodles and carbon media. Are they good for filtering and keep ammonia and nitrate level balance? Do you use any carbon media?

I want to set it up and more focus on bio filtering. So what is the best selection of media to put in FX5 three trays? :bounce: :bounce: I have two FX5 and I really want to create a good water circulation for my tank if possiable. good circulation here means a good water flow circle that has less dead spot and can carry most waste to intake hozzle area.... So what is the best way to place these two FX5? :digH:

Could any one tell me where I can buy cheap and good qulity flakes or pallet for my african cichlids? :sage: As my fish grows they eat a lot... It is a bit expensive to buy in petshop with no promotions on. I see quite a few people sell fish food on trademe. But not sure which one is good. Any ideas guys? :digH:

You got it I got one from you looong time ago. He is grow to about 8cm and just start showing the color now. It could be the fourth most colorful fish in my tank.... I am still not sure if he is a peacock or a hap.... I got it from you as little fry... :facepalm:

He is ok. still swim around and come out quite often. Just his mouth is damaged pretty bad. I am pretty sure it is caused by a big fight... I will watch him closely, finger cross that he can survive during the recovery period. :smln:

Nice tank! :happy1: I love dems and giaffes. I try to grow a clony of dems to decent size at moment. What is your rock? What is PH in your tank? from stone and water world? I use alpine stone in my tank. It boost the PH to about 8.5 in my tank. :digH:

Well I do have another 200L tank with 10 dems fry in it. I dont think thats a good idea to put shark in there. Also I dont think it is a easy job to catch him in my 6 ft tank with lots of rocks in... :facepalm: I will see how he looks like tonight...

I will try to take a picture of it tomorrow after work... poor little guy. I dont thing he is eating anything. He just hide...

I just found today my shark seems a bit strange. Very lonely and quiet. not much movement compares to before. Stay in the corner or under rocks. I found his mouth is damaged badly. it look like he swim very fast and crash into the rock or something... I dont have sharp shape stuff in my tank, substrate is coral sand... I look at his profile and he is suit in PH between 6.5 ~7.5. I think my tank has PH 8.5. Could that be the cause makes him uncomfortable? He is one of the longest fish I kept. Almost 2 and half years. I will be very said to see him die.... :facepalm: Any idea? What happen to the fish if the PH is too high for them? They stop eating or something?

cool, good luck man. My albino rainbow has been with me for 2 years now. From the very beginning angle fish tank to 200L cichlids tank. He is VERY aggressive..... He chase my electric yellow and other cichlids everywhere in my 200L tank. He is the boss. But after I move him into my 760L tank he seems a bit shy. He always hiding under the rock and not chasing anyone... I test my PH is about 8.0 ~8.5. Is that too high for him? He still swim around and get crazy when I drop in food.

:o I may pass on that one...hehe... probably I will put in a few more albino rainbow shark and pleco.....
