Warwick, having red slime (cyano bacteria) is all about having too many nutrients in the tank of a type that make the cyano grow.
To get it sorted, keep that skimmer working at max, and syphon as much cyano as you can, as often as you can. When you syphon it, you remove both it, and the nutrients that are in it, thus stopping re-growth, although it may take a while to stop the re-growth. Also do not over feed and add unnessecary suppliments.
Good flow is part of the battle because it will blow the cyano into suspension to allow it to be skimmed, but mostly just keep stubbornly and persistently skimming and syphoning, you will win the battle.
This next one is controversial, but try chucking 10 or 15 mls of vodka in the tank. (I joke not, it often works).
