Actually you are correct, they only have the 3/4 inch SCWD. It has reduced flow although I'm not sure by what %. Like you I have friends in the US and have used this to get stuff from Marine Depot, but can only do this if someone is coming to NZ. In this way I got a skimmer that is not available here, but if they had freighted it would have cost megabucks. Rest of the time I deal with Custom Aquatics, have to ride out the frustration, delays and absense of response to my emails, but everything I have ordered has turned up in the end. GST? I never paid any.

If freight cost is an issue, you can get from Custom Aquatics, they will send to NZ by much cheaper post than Marine Depot. Also they have SCWD in stock now, I already got one from them in my tank. I dealt with both Custom Aquatics and Marine Depot, Marine Depot is excellent service, just they will only send by expensive freight. Custom Aquatics the service is sometimes a bit sloppy, but they generally have the best prices on the net. To deal with them they require you to send them a pic of both sides of your credit card if you're an overseas customer, opening the account was a hassle, but now it's open dealing with them is easy enough.

And when they didn't like that I personally liked it all the more!

Good point, you pay your money and you take your chances! However I'm running a "no name" brand bulb at the moment that I got in the same way, US $44.99 at the time, it's been going I think 9 months, no worries. But appreciate your advice. By the way Reef, you stirred a few people up with your last RC thread A good read :lol:

Oh thanks, thought it hadn't been sent. The MH bulbs are the ones here at US $39.95, http://www.customaquatic.com/customaqua ... lt-rmhb-d1 I have contacted Custom Aquatics about them and they assure me they are a good bulb.

Hi well it's my first post! I'm bringing in some of these bulbs from the States while they're on special, just wondered if anybody else needs some if I can bring several in it will reduce freight cost per bulb to me. Should work out at around NZ $80.00 each. Also, another question, I just replied to a PM, but it is in my outbox, not my sent box. Can't figure out how to actually send it, how do I do this?
