  1. just go for a drink.... i often visit the bar there, lots do, there is no need to eat but the wine list is pretty expensive... still $10 for a cheap glass of sav is not going to break the bank, and the fish/small crays will keep you ammused for at least 30 mins 8) especially the crays trying to sneak up on the small fish 8)

Alex (3.5yo) loves my fish, always helps to feed them.... but i would say that until you are at least 12 you could prob not get it together enough or have the discipline to keep a reef tank going........

    ideas please

i have a glass tank that i want to use as a frag area tank, its drilled low in one corner about 1 inch off the bottom, has a nice through fitting with a thread on the outside and a simple hole on the inside. I want to use a 90degree bend on the inside and different height pvc pipes at different times, so they must be changeable . how can i get a good seal on the inside of the tank? is there a throuigh type fitting with a thread on each end?

    gorgonians

Because the Orange Tree Gorgonian is not photosynthetic, its survival is dependent on regular and frequent feedings of brine shrimp, baby brine shrimp, or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates. Do not allow cyanobacteria to form on the branches, as it will cause both the polyps and tissue of the coral to rapidly deteriorate. The Orange Tree Gorgonian should only be maintained by the skilled reef aquarist, in a well established reef. Many people in Reef community want its sale banned, i am sure that some people could keep it alive, but many will be temped to try and will surely kill them

    mounting frogspawn

Yeah it was a nice surprise from Ivan , but I have brought a lot of Ivans fish, got purple tang blue tang coral beauty lemonpeel scooter bleeny (Alex my son just loves this guy.....) fiji damsel and a few chromis Zoo's and other coral bit too, and sludge from tank to increase my biodeiversity.... keep to swap sand with others as well to help here... yeah they are well extended for quite small arms... I will mount them well clear of everything else.
  13. Ivan gave me some pieces of frogspawn, is it safe to glue these to rocks using the underwater epoxy putty stuff.......?????? They seem to like quite high light levels, what 1/3 or the tank, from top is ideal (tank is 26in high and has 250W MHI's) cheers
  14. I will have young Alex with my so may not be able to stay long, but will come over and say hello again. I think i can find something to swap, will try and fray a zoo. Peter

  17. did not read your post above, not wanting to mislead anyone on what you are using....
  18. just been talking to to guy from lampbrokers here in NZ... he can do deals on both 150 and 250W Double ended BLV bulbs as long as we get enough... best for him is a box of 10 as thats how he buys them. I personally need 250W for my main units but 150W for my soon to be frag tank. He will also return bulbs that blow early and get you another AS ONG AS YOU ARE using the CORRECT gear to run them. The 150W bulb will be about the same price as the USA ones you are talking about ie $78NZD + gst, and its a known brand... I think reef uses BLV????? I am personally willing to buy 4 of the 250W ones to get the discount, need 6 more takers... anyone for 150W bulbs? Just for the record, I am just passing along this deal at cost to me, As we will all need replacement bulbs every 12 months this could be a good thing for us and a good thing for the lampbrokers man, everyone like recuring revenue, and a good deal.
